Dealer/factory fitting footwell lights

Featured Replies

I know kits are available from kufatec and some have retrofitted them successfully but wondered if anyone has managed to get the factory/ dealer to fit them?

I called customer services today and they said its a fair point asking at the factory level (prior to build confirmation) but the dealer would be the people to approach to make the request.

I'm ordering a vrs soon with lots of toys and don't fancy having trim removed etc once built to then rattle!

Had experince of this on previous cars and hate rattles, especially on a car costing 30k :-0

It seems crazy as its standard on the l&k and it'd be my luck on the next update they'll be standard fit. I more than happy to pay the extra.

And the dealer will tell you if it isn't a factory option on their price list they can't order them. You may be lucky though and get a dealer who puts a bit of effort in and gets it done for you.

I very much doubt that a dealer will do any retrofitting other than what Skoda UK permits

Well I managed to get chrome window trims on a hatch, over 12 months before they became an official SUK option, I provided the dealer with the factory option code and they sorted it, so it must be possible, just need to ask the right person, suggest the dealer principal is the one to speak to!

Cool. That provides a glimmer of hope, cheers.

Will give it a go.

Does anyone know the code for said footwell lights or how i'd find out please?

how can they fit them

Kufatec / other suppliers = Independent loom

Factory OEM = part of the main interior loom

only way I can see you getting them from the factory is to order the car from a dealer in an other country where they have them has an option

Because in a lot of cases, the wiring is already there for different fittings, with the plugs taped up,and you plug the flying leads from the accessories into them

You might have the cut outs for the light fittings, but not the wiring and I'd be surprised if a dealer would/could do the coding required (they're not too flexible on electrical upgrades) Retrofitting is relatively straight forward and I've had no trim rattles from my upgrade to these lights.

The l&k version would have the same loom/ dash off the same production line. It just getting them to add it which is not impossible but do doubt they would but there you are :-(

Its only an extra build code option number.

It is only an additional build code, but if it isn't available to the dealer to add to the order then you will have to sweet talk SUK to get the factory to add it after the dealer has placed the order. Then they will have to work out how to charge it back, which is probably even more complex!

The loom on the L&K will be different, no other current UK spec Octavia has the footwell light wiring in the loom.

Can't say I've seen that with the many vag cars I've seen

Low screenwash warning = not fitted

Front Fog Lights = not fitted

Footwell lights = not fitted

wiring for Cruise Control = not fitted

only exception I have come accross was for my Auto dimming wing mirror: wiring which was there from the interior mirror to the lower A-Pillar. But I had to do the rest on the drivers door

What's the fascination with these footwell lights. You all got pretty shoes to look at whilst driving?

I had them in the previous golf. Don't miss them at all.

Can see they might be good for dogging in dark car parks. ;)
