As above, I can't see many breaking 105mph terminal.

Especially if the mongrel with 300 odd bhp is seeing 112-114mph.

For info in my old Fabia I was just about on the 105mph terminal speed.

That was with a 13.6 second quarter mile.

 

Semi slicks, LSD, 255bhp and around 400 lb/ft.

 

Some of the 270-280bhp GTB cars will break that if they get a good launch and are properly set up.

BTW, it's now 110mph terminal speed, not 105 for the helmet requirement

Yes, just track day tyres though.

I think you'd shave around half a second off on drag slicks like Darkside use.

Unfortunately semi slicks can be worse off the line if they are not warmed up.  This was an issue I suffered once and ended up getting better launches off road tyres.  Santa Pod need a little handling circuit on site where you can warm up tyres before heading for the strip.

That works well on an old pair of used tyres.  Semi slicks take more warming than you can manage in one burnout

 

If there is no queue the best thing you can do is keep going for more runs.  More grip each time.

road tyres are OK - knock them down to about 15 PSI for best traction though  Sometimes semi slicks are too "stiff" to get good grip, even when deflated a bit.  A crappy branded pair of tyres will warm up faster.

I toasted my RS3's in under half an hour. They are way too soft for track work, unless it hammers it down.

I now run Federal RSR's, they are grippier and harder wearing, much better on track IMO.

I'm probably not going to be able to make this now so I'm taking myself off the list.
