What Mods Have You Done To Your Car?

I love the look of the DTM splitter! What's the ground clearance at the front with the spoiler fitted (on an estate)? It looks ace but I'd be worried about clouting it on the ludicrously oversized speed bumps near where I live...

I put the car into "Normal" driving mode which turned down the sound generator and I can't notice difference in engine/throttle response.

I'm sure you know already, but it only takes a couple of minutes to turn the sound generator off (or down to a level of your choice) with a vcds (if you have a cable owner in the hood) or at your local dealer.

New rear VRS door sill covers fitted this morning.

Are they the superskoda ones? Do they feel OEM quality?

Bought them off ebay but think he'd got them from superskoda yes.

I got mine from Caffyns, big main dealers with several outlets in the south east, through their ebay shop. Genuine Skoda, cheaper than superskoda.

Best mod for me was my Scorpion exhaust. Who needs a sound generator when you can have the real thing!!!

I'd love to do this but wouldn't it create an issue with the warranty?

Genuine Skoda 18" Turini Alloys

Genuine Skoda Black Grill

Genuine Skoda Black Mirror Caps

H&R 40mm Lowering Springs

Genuine Skoda Door Sill Trims - Black
Genuine Skoda Rubber Footwell Mats

Westfalia Detachable Swan Neck Towbar

Pretty much OEM where possible and sourced at competitive prices from UK and abroad.

Nyborg, Denmark

Extras ordered from factory were Rear Tints and Metallic Paint.

Thinking about debadging - any thoughts?

Scorpion say not and are prepared to stand by their work! Best off to give them a ring, they'll be only too happy to chat!

Totally a matter of taste. I've done my black vrs as I love the cleaner look. But others will hate it I'm sure!

Can I ask how you did it? I was thinking a hairdyer and some gentle twisting and a piece of cotton pulling behind? I know there are only stuck on. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Bit risky but a cloth wrapped tightly around a flatblade screwdriver has done the job on a few cars ive debadged before.

You'll find because the car is so new that it wont take that much encouragement to remove them, they tend to set harder and harder over time.

Only thing you may end up with is some glue residue/sticky pad remaining. A polish with a light cutting compound followed by a polish with regular car polish usually does the job.

Equally cotton thread does a good and slightly less risky job but usually leaves more residue on the car as you tend to cut more through the adhesive pad than lever it from the car in (more or less) one piece.

I've had success removing badges in the past by heating with hair dryer and then using dental floss to "saw" the glue off

I debadged my VRS using a hair dryer, dental floss and then removed the residue using that sticky stuff remover that you can pick up from B&Q and the like. Worked a treat!

+1 for hair dryer and dental floss (or fishing line). I actually did my first letter with a plastic spatula (bad move), but it left some tiny scratches on the top coat. Not visible, but I know they're there...

I was surprised at how little heat was required.

I've changed my numberplates and put a magnetic GB on the boot which I have thus far failed to remove. Rear tints will be the first mod when I get round to it.

Oh yeah, forgot to say I have removed the awful dealer branded number plates and replaced with some metal embossed versions which include the Euro GB emblem that are legal for continental driving:

Which are held on with a pair of black number plate surrounds:

  • 1 month later...

Hi there,

I have just got back home after having fitted a DTM Spoiler to the front of my car, and I was wondering what other modifications people have made to their Octavia III's.

So far I have fitted inserts to go in the seat raisers that say vRS, fitted wind deflectors to the windows and a bumper protector to the back bumper, as well as the spoiler fitted today.

I suppose the point of this topic is to see what others have done to their cars good and bad.

Liking this mate, I'm looking to get a front spoiler too. I've been on the SuperSkoda website and found some real good things on there.

Was the window deflectors hard to fit, what is it fitted with glue or screws?

Cheers

Liking these, you purchase these from SuperSkoda?

Cheers

Has anyone here added or considered adding auxiliary high beams to the Octavia?

(Just wondering if I'll miss the much higher range main beams on my current Volvo, and thinking I might make up for it by adding some lights if it bugs me in the long run.)

I have a Rigid SR2 20 " ledbar on my old octavia , I considering mounting it on the new car when I get it. only problem is that I must find a place to have it , today it sits under the sign , but on the new car i can't have it there since the radar to the acc sitting there

The cleanest solution would be to have a replacement grille that has embedded lights around the radar...now if only someone would start manufacturing those...

Ill be fitting a led Bar to mine at some point.

It's a shame the grilles are not easier to remove or I would have already.
