Down in Plymouth so not seeing my Sky F1 coverage and just watching P1 lap times on F1 live timing.

How come Kvyat so much quicker than everyone else?

Presume it is a bit wet and he is being very brave?

Long straight is it not.

  • There doesn't seem to be any love for Kimi after coming from the back and finishing 4th  - I haven't seen his name mentioned once in any of the commentaries. I think he did well after the mess up that

  • Really?   Probably one of the first races this season that I've fully watched and if I'm totally honest I was bored out of my tree - processional at the best. Plus the pinnacle of motor racing and t

No improvement in last hour then.

I saw an interesting article this evening that claimed the Force India was on the verge of becoming Aston Martin next season! Didn't realise they were about to go back into F1 so soon. Apparently Mercedes owns 5% of Aston so I suppose the Force India/Mercedes-engine arrangement would be fine for the future.

now if they could just all make the cars look a bit better. Wider, simpler and less sponsorship, we could have the 1970's back Yay :)

Manor continues to implode (sadly).

Tech chief Bob Bell has walked out.

So, Christian Horner - and Dietrich Mastersh-it  think that it is impossible to build a competitive car without an engine deal in place in the next couple of weeks?

Don't they remember Ros Brawn?

Honda pulled out at the end of the season promising to supply engines if a buyer was found.  The new car had been designed around the Honda engine.

Around Christmas (can't remember whether it was just before or just after) - with Ros Brawn closing in on a rescue - Honda changed their mind and declined to supply engines.  Ros Brawn did a deal with Mercedes for engines - which must have required some last minute design changes to the car.

Of course, the Brawn car wasn't competitive in 2009, was it?

They'll do a deal with Honda. It's in both their interests

Honda are just sandbagging everyone now, they have to be... Can't get enough testing time, so burn this season to test everything. Then next year, as Jenson asked "Did they plug the battery in?" unleash. Well one can but hope. They as McLaren Honda probably have the budget to weather 2 duff seasons before heads/finances will roll. It's not in Honda's interest to not get it right.

Of course in 2018 we'll be back on some V6 combo after Bernie et al, goes mad on ebay one night.

Whose paying for the McHonda farce. Ron's team haven't had a title sponsor for years.

Susie Wolff quitting motorsport, claiming an F1 drive isn't going to happen.

Toto's probably got her up the duff!

Well since she never won any car race, an F1 race seat was a little over ambitious IMHO

But she would have been nice to see on the warm up shows

  • 2 weeks later...

Did anyone else think that Lewis' complaint about "It's hard to overtake here" had more to do with his being unable to overtake the one (fractionally) faster car/driver combination than any objective assessment of the possibility of overtaking moves at Interlagos? I can't help thinking that Max Verstappen may have a different view of the possibility of making overtaking moves!

Yea, it's known as a track where you can overtake, especially into turns 1 and 4.

Yes, he's now realising the additional advantage he had over Nico every time he was leading a race and Nico was 2nd.

However nobody seemed to be raising the "aero makes it hard to get close and overtake a Merc" problem until it was Lewis having the problem

I think Hamilton's real moan was that the team would not change its strategy to try and pass Rosberg. Interesting comment from DC was that Hamilton doesn't appear as fast as he was now that the tyre pressures have been increased.

I'm not sure that "plan B" could have been faster, particularly given that Mercedes ran hot laps on all their sets of options in qualifying and how close the pointy German was behind the Stevenage Rapper! ;)

Also, if I was Paddy, Niki and Toto, my priority would have been securing Nico's second place in the Drivers' Championship, not getting the SR another race win.

Second place in the driver's is just "whatever?"

MBZ already won both titles - there's nothing more to gain so why don't they take the reins off the drivers, engineers and strategy teams and let the fans see an all out race.

In other recent news, loyal 30 year sponsor TAG dumps McHonda for RedBull.

I can't be the only one that would like to see Massa give his seat to Wolf for the last race of the season? He's pretty much stuck in 6th in the championship regardless and Williams place is secure. It would be nice as she's hanging up her helmet.

She so doesn't deserve a race drive.

She's not a racer.  Never won a race since karts.

Not even in the top 5 of active lady racers.

Katherine Legge has won in Formula Atlantic.

Pippa Mann has won in Indy lights.

Danica Patrick has won in Indycar.

Why not give one of them (winners) a go at F1.

I'd give it a go if they rang me :)
