Not a lot to gain in a wet practice with quali and the race likely to be dry. Probably not pushing the limits. Also doubt that Rosberg is 0.5s faster than Hamilton in the wet. Early days yet but it does look like Merc have sorted their Singapore issues out.

  • There doesn't seem to be any love for Kimi after coming from the back and finishing 4th  - I haven't seen his name mentioned once in any of the commentaries. I think he did well after the mess up that

  • Really?   Probably one of the first races this season that I've fully watched and if I'm totally honest I was bored out of my tree - processional at the best. Plus the pinnacle of motor racing and t

Mercedes?????

Have they even run any dry tyres yet?

Added to which - the compounds are different this week too.

Medium and Hard compounds I think (plus the Merc specific super hard compound if the conspiracy theories are to be believed)  :D. No dry tyre running yet but a good test of traction and mechanical grip which I think Mercedes struggled with in Singapore.

Interesting comment about Red Bull engines for next year.

  • Renault Engines almost definately will not be used
  • RBR would like to use Ferrari if that deal could be done
  • Possible option of using something from VW now looks very unlikely as the brand is toxic (quite literally the Sky commentator joked) ((Bit harsh as they would be using TSI and not TDI technology).
  • If they do not get any of the above they will probably not race next season at all.  (Leave Newey to work more on the Americas Cup or the RedBull road car)

Added to which VW haven't got an engine.

Even the crappy Honda is 2 years down the design and development road. (and thats 3 years behind Mercedes)

I wonder how much it'll cost RedBull to not race - they are contracted to do so until 2020 I think.

The WRC engine technology would take same changing to F1 even though both 1.6 litre as little else is transferable, same with WEC tech, not much help in F1 except the energy recovery tech.

Academic as VW will have most of their efforts just surviving in many markets.  They may even choose to leave WEC and WRC if it is P*ssing in the wind.

I thought VAG had long toyed with entering F1 and had a design 'ready to go'.  Obviously not road tested though.

Pretty sure recent events scupper any prospect of seeing VAG in F1 for quite a while as their budget is now needed elsewhere

Fernando Alonso Comment when being passed by Verstappen " GP2 Engine"

OMG.

To say that on the radio on Honda's own track with all the top Honda people present!

New ride needed for Mr Alonso ?

He said it twice.

However, if he hadn't messed up the chicane Verstappen wouldn't have been close enough anyway.

I think Jenson had a go about the engine earlier too.

Hope, and expect, that the Moto3 and MotoGP will be much better than the F1.  After the Rugby last night its starting to look like a sports wash out weekend.

I'd love to see Pedrosa get a win, after Marc knocked him off at Aragon before.

How unpopular is F1 these days?

I have never seen empty seats at Suzuka on race day before - today there were huge parts of the stands that were completely unoccupied.

When F1 legend Mr Lauda says you are better watching MotoGP that about says it all.

Not looking too good for 2016 unless Haas really stir things up, Red Bull get Ferrari engine and the Renault Lotus works, kind of hoping against hope.

I expect Haas to get a serious reality check next year, It looks like their package is going to be similar to Sauber's. so they may have a chance of beating Manor I guess.

Haas haven't yet confirmed their second driver have they? Think its game over for Rosberg in the title race, Hamilton too strong once again. Alonso giving Honda a bit of a public flogging too, wonder what his bosses will say about that.

They were fools to take him back a 2nd time after what happened.

Looks like history will repeat itself and that'll be his lot at McLaren

Haas have already announced they're taking one of the Ferrari reserves, that's probably Gutierrez ( or just maybe JEV)

I was at Suzuka. Plenty of people there, mainly hardcore Japanese fans. I was one of the few foreigners there. Was a great event and atmosphere was fantastic

Bernie's greed driving up ticket prices?

How cool were those Ferrari samurai armours?

First corner dominoes aside that was a fairly 'dull' race for Japan. Well, other than the large 'code brown' moment for Rossi at 130R!

Other than Mexico i'd like to get this season over with now. As it appears next year could be interesting due to all the following:

Red Bull/Toro Rosso to get Ferrari power. Manour to get Mercedes engines. HAAS coming in as Ferrari's satellite  team. Renault buying Lotus.

Even of only half of that happens, it should be enough to make things a bit more lively next year.

depends on who you are supporting ;)

Well I am part Irish so I am transferring allegiance, England do not deserve my support.

So, Button is staying at McLaren, and Manour have the Merc engines after signing a multi-year deal. Next year is set to be interesting!
