WEC not exciting? Porsche and Audi have been fighting tooth and nail all year with completely different cars!

Toyota underestimated this years step forward for sure but they are comitted to an all new car next year.

WRC going VW's way for a few years is a pleasant change from Loeb/Citroen (who were more dominant than Schumacher/Ferrari I think)

I do agree on the blue oval though - second best for about 10 years in WRC (but now about 4th best - even Hyundai are quicker)

  • There doesn't seem to be any love for Kimi after coming from the back and finishing 4th  - I haven't seen his name mentioned once in any of the commentaries. I think he did well after the mess up that

  • Really?   Probably one of the first races this season that I've fully watched and if I'm totally honest I was bored out of my tree - processional at the best. Plus the pinnacle of motor racing and t

Apparently Audi Group has said they will continue with only one team depending on whether which team Audi or Porsche do best in the next year or two.

Loeb not doing so well in WTCC, interesting.  What is with being called Sebastian (Loeb, Ogier, Vettel) ?

Loeb - 3 wins already this year in the same team and car as the undisputed all time WTCC #1 and the reigning champ.

I say he's doing b****y well against those 2 - considering he's a rally driver with comparitively little circuit experience.

Oh and send a link to your WEC story please - I understood both VAG teams were committed to the series.

You forgot Seb Bourdais - invincible in Champ Car for years.

shame other car companies VAG etc, do not join the pinnacle of motor racing.

Rumours have been tied to Torro Rosso & VW for some time now.

So if this is true, and Helmet Merko is quitting F1, then what happens to Torro Rosso?

Well seeing how slow Honda are progressing with only 2 cars, it might make sense for VW to supply 2 teams and get the development done quicker?

I'm sure I'd read previously VW had a secret F1 engine project running 'just in case'?

Looks like the Singapore race could be more of a contest between Ferrari, Merc annd Red Bull looking at the Practice 2 times and Toto Wolf was managing expectations in the press conference.

Looking at last years lap times it was all pretty close.

Here is hoping for some actual racing.

What a qualifying !

On a track with lots of corners the Ferraris and Red Bulls shows Mercedes which cars handle.

The Times were phenomenal (except for stunned Mercedes at 1.5 seconds down).

The rake and setup that these cars were running was spectacular with the titanium under tray skids looking amazing in the night racing.

Mercedes definitely not on form today. Even if they were they would probably struggled to match Seb unless there really was a major issue with both cars. Hoping for Danny Ric to lead into turn 1 to make things interesting. Hamilton's race runs on Friday didn't look too bad so should be fun seeing what he can do from p5.

Lewis, Nico and Toto all seemed genuinely perplexed at why their car was a second to a second and a half slower than the Ferrari/ Red Bulls.

Have not looked forward to a race since the non-turbo days or the first turbo era.

Lewis mentioned about not being able to get the tyres into the zone. He still seemed quite chipper though. I doubt the pattern will continue at suzuka though. Should be an exciting race although if Seb leads into turn 1 could be race over

yeah I'm really looking forward to Vettel sodding off into the distance with no competition today - Not.

just like when he was at RBR.

That Ferrari is just way quicker than anything else around here.

Great result for Ferrari. Leads to a more interesting conclusion to the season too!

Game on but I do doubt that Mercedes will be that slow again, lewis' race pace was strong until his problems. Likely to be business as usual in Japan but Ferrari will be hot on their heels.

Dull race. Hulkenberg given a grid penalty at the next race for hitting Massa.

Was all too reminiscent of what Vettel did all too often in the red bull days.

Pretty much the same as what Hamilton has been doing recently

True enough. Difference is Vettel managed to do it week in week out esp at the end of 2013, that really was painful. Hamilton has managed it at Spa and Monza after the start difficulties him and Mercedes have had. My opinion of Vettel has grown massively this year though, I did doubt his ability last year but he has shown he is still a formidable rival

And Schumacher & Ferrari did for years

Seems fair; the "Incredible Hulk" didn't need to hit that apex to make the pass.

VW to buy RedBull?

Will they be able to afford it after the US government fines them?

F1 a little strange lately. Today Ferrari are 2 seconds off the pace at Suzuka.
