Knock Knock?....Who's there?....Hopefully you, can tell me?

Featured Replies

Hello again hopefully you lot aint getting annoyed with my posts....But seems to be one thing after another! Only had the car just gone a month. Bought from a car dealer.

And it just keeps on giving. And not in a good way.

So since I have had the car there has been a knocking noise coming from the N/S/F Suspension area. Only happens when turning right round corners or roundabouts, but a knock knock knock knock knock happens and seems to get faster and louder the faster the car goes round the corner or the more weight is lifted off that corner.

Only seems to happens when going round a bend gently if i take a corner like a pro...It does not seem to make the noise at at least not very loud anyways.

As of this morning on my way to work the noise (assuming its from the same place) is now a higher pitch knocking that before.

Tis really getting my tits!

I had a look under wheel arch this morning when i got to work and noticed this that at the bottom of the strut, where the spring sits there is a bracket,  with 2 holes in it with a bolt and bush on the other side. But there is only one on each strut. Is there supposed to be two? I hav got pictures. But some reason cant upload them :/

Have you taken it back to the dealer- I'm sure it has to be fit for purpose when they sell it you and the onus is now on them to prove any faults were not there at the point of sale?

Na I haven't to be honest, The car came with a 30 day run around warranty or 500 miles whatever come 1st and only covered total gearbox or engine failure not perishables. Needless to say Im over a 30 days and done alot more that 500 miles lol. So id be arguing till I was blue in the face no doubt.....

You need to replace the drop links.

My man you sound confident in that reply! I like it. Hopefully that's the case.

Drop links or anti roll bar bushes.youll need a torx socket and the use of a spare jack to lift the lower arm after drop link removed, be careful as these torx can corroded and snap, spray some wd40 to release it. Happy replacing.

Cheers for the advice buddy, Tho after the weekend end of "unhappy replacing" (over tightened a nut on EGR to exhaust manifold flange and snapping the threaded stud) Ill be getting someone else to do it ;) I don't like having to blame myself lol

The reason there is a spare hole on the strut bracket for the drop link is that the struts are the same on both sides of the car and the bracket holes are universal to suit left or right fitting of the drop link.

I have a new pair of struts sitting here right now.
