aftermarket wheels thread

Hey everyone,

I got my Octavia recently, it's a Pre-FL 2015 model with 19" OEM Xtreme wheels. I've decided I want to go down to 18" wheels, specifically these BBS reps from CM Wheels when they're in stock. I'll also order some Eibach Pro-Kit springs and changes the shocks to Bilstein B12's too and fit this all at once.

I have multiple reasons for wanting to downsize, being the poor road quality in my area, cheaper tires with more selection available that can fit 18x8 (225/40/18) and I think the 19's look comically big on the car and are also easy to kerb.

Judging by what I've seen in this thread, there should be no issue running these 18x8 ET42 wheels on a lowered car, correct me if I'm wrong :)

Nope, absolutely fine. I had 18 x 8j et 42 Speedlines on earlier this year and they were fine with 225 40 18 tyres. Mines a facelift too so the track is wider. you could even get away with 15mm spacers all round in addition on a preface.

Great thanks for confirming mate. Spacers are illegal in Western Australia and it's an easy way to void insurance if the insurance investigators spot them on your car, but I could probably look at an even lower offset like ET35.

yeah I dont do spacers either. That's why I'm on my 6th set of wheels :D

on mine on the rear, 8j et 42 was perfect I thought. And I'm sure I read that facelift are 17mm or so wider on the rear per side. So you've got plenty to play with I think. Sounds like could even got 8.5j and/or et30

yup no clerance issues

but i have my2014 and you have RS245 ... facelift models have wider rear hub than prefacelift

and as far i know ET45 is safe in FL models for 8" width rim

How are you finding this setup after one year? I was looking at BBS reps from CM wheels but I've noticed I can get genuine brand new BBS SR wheels for not much more. the choice for me with the BBS SR is either 18x8 ET45 or 18x8 ET35 which is exactly your setup here. It looks like it's sitting flush with the arch here and not sticking out of the arches which is good. I don't like it when wheels stick out of the arches and give that sort of monster truck look!

How many mm's drop have you got with your Eibach springs?

Likely the four heavy 19” extremes in the boot weighing it down!

Ahhh makes more sense, thought it looked a bit reverse rake. Mint username and avatar BTW - anybody wanna get high?!:D

Yeah it’s sitting back up on the rear now, but still running spacers on the rear, blooming Pre-FL and its narrow rear track!

One of Southparks finest - Maybe if I just get a little high I’ll remember :D

Tooks me ages to find this thread again, rubbish at searching but I knew it was here somewhere and didn't want to start a new thread!

My Octavia is current running on standard VRS 18's that have been painted black, while plenty seem to like them I can't quite get on board with them looking that way. I'm thinking about having them painted silver but use the car daily so having with all 4 wheels off is a bit awkward!

These 18's have come up locally withe correct 5x112 PCD but I don't know much about them for fitting to the Octavia but I do like the style!

Any thoughts or experience?

Thanks

Hi everyone.

I have a 1.4 140hp with stock suspension and height.

I want to buy 18" wheels and I had in mind that 18x8 et 45 is good both for the car and look.

I found some wheels 18x8 ,et 35 and I think it will be ugly . I don't want the wheels going out too much .

Are there any photos to see how it will look??

Hello guys,

After going through the thread i am stil a bit confused about the fitment.

I have a 2014 2.0tdi estate Octi and i would like to fit 8j with ET 30 wheels on 225/40/18 tires.

My only worry is about the wheel arch, if they'll look good or not...

I've seen somewhere in the thread someone doing 8.5 J and ET37 on 19" and they seemed to be ok with the wheel arch and by doing some calculation my desired setup seems to look like that one ( white octy).

does anyone has this setup?

Thanks

Hello everyone. Total noob question here but how do you handle road imperfection with aller those setup?

I mean on some photos wheels are so un the arch that i don t even know how it is possible to take a corner, how can those car take a bumper ?

What am i missing?
