Boot side dividers - hatch (but probably estate too)

Featured Replies

Just a quick one - the small vertical black plastic divider panel about 40cms by 15, that separates a part of the boot at the side - does anyone know where/how/part number/cost to get one for the driver's side?

Standard fit (at least on '13 SE's) seems to be just on one side, though all brochure photos show fitted on both sides. No mention on Skoda site or the usual 3rd party suppliers. I don't want the one that forms a right-angle in the middle of the boot floor.

Just asking the experts before I talk to the dealer!

Cheers.

Pretty sure it's not available - I tried to find one last year, and in discussion with the parts manager at my dealer concluded that the structure of the driver's side boot interior is different so there is nothing for it to attach to. He couldn't find a part to order either. A pity as it would be really handy! I'm hoping that at some point it will be possible to get one of those boot bags shaped for the recess, as made for the mk2.

My hatch had Canton in the recess on the passenger side, and the storage cubby in the drivers side recess?

If I'm understanding you correctly I have them both sides. No idea whether it's available as a replacement part though (I'd have thought so). I might want some new ones at some point, because the insert that comes out with the velcro on is particularly useful for stopping stuff too big for those recesses from sliding around, and I think I'm gonna wear them out pretty quickly.

And the difference is the OP has an SE and you have (and I had) an Elegance

On the issue of boot dividers:

Does anyone know of any good (third party?) solutions for dividing the space under the adjustable floor?

BTW. Why does Skoda have different names for the two lower trim levels in the UK compared to many other countries? (S & SE vs. Active & Ambition)

I was looking at tis last year and from what i could gather you need you change the whole carpet side panel of the boot as the divider is attached to that.

I have one which came off my estate passenger side. I think it fits both sides but ill check. It has lived in my wardrobe at home ever since day 1. Have no need for it so If you want it give me money for postage and I'll send it.

With out the parts that are attached (probably ultra sonically welded) to the carpet side it's useless.

It seems these are not fitted to the Elegance Estate (Although my dealer said they did when I ordered my car  ) I have these in my Avensis, they do not come with the car and cost around £90 the pair! So I made a pair covered in boot colour floor mat which matches the rest of the carpet. cost £3.00 and some off cuts of ply from my garage!

I too find these very useful and the dealer has agreed to supplying a pair with the car, I now need to find out how to remove the side panels from the load area as I think (Hope) I should be able to make something to enable me to fit the boards.

Any websites showing details of how the panels are fitted would be helpful ..........

Thanks for the replies, I was expecting the answers to be not good news. I've got some ideas for a DIY solution along the lines of ajw's Avensis fix.

I asked about these today as my car will not come with them. They said that parts are ordered according to the VIN number and if the car did not have them with built then according to Skoda they (Dividers) are not available to buy as parts. I asked them to check against the part number stamped on the back  (Sorry forgot to note it myself) to see if it was listed. It seems it is and on checking the 'fit' in an estate with divider from a HB it still fitted okay. It seems the divider can be fitted either side and is not 'handed' But check for yourself as I have not been to Specsavers for while......

If you ask your dealer I would think he would allow you to try one from a display car.

Good luck!

I didn't think these were possible to fit on a elegance because of the variable boot floor?

I think they will fit. I placed one in an estate with VBF at the dealers, if the panel liner had had the moulded parts attached to the wheel arch and rear pillar it would have fitted like a glove. I do not see why they do not fit them unless it is because the base, which is in the recess between wheel arch and pillar, is removable so having the divider sitting on top of it makes it a bit of job to access the area under the base.

If you place the divider 'in place' so it rests against wheel arch and by the rear pillar it sits away from the edge of the VBF by roughly about an inch so should be any restriction to the VBF itself. I placed the divider where it would normally go and dealer moved the floor panels without them getting near the dividers. It is exactly the same on my Avensis with a removable side recessed base, the dividers just sit on top, held in place as on the SE Skoda's.

The real problem are the moulded parts attached to the side panel and rear pillar, they are not available as a separate parts as they comes pre-attached to the panels, by the look of them it would be fairly easy to make some from about 10/12mm ply and screw them from the inside of the panels with a reinforcing strip. The fun part would be how to remove the panels in the first place!

I just use the smallest net that came with the car to cover that side and hold stuff in? There are no tabs to hold the plastic divider, like on the passenger side, on mine either.

Side dividers supplied to me have the following part number 5E5-867-145-A as moulded on the rear of the divider, the package bag also had 9B9 following the 5E5-867-145-A, don't know if this is relevant or not. A web search came up with a price of £40 each!

My dealer has supplied a pair of luggage area plastic side panels with my Elegance Estate. On the face of it they look like they will fit but of course there are no fittings on the side mouldings to take them. In the VRS I looked at the floor is a lot lower than in an Elegance with the VBF, therefore the plastic side  panels would also, if fitted, be a lot higher and I found that the gap between the top of the panel and the rear seat/hook panel would be rather too small so limiting access. The height of the panels supplied is 160mm.

After much head scratching I decided to once again make my own removable side panels of 130mm. As the side floor panels are removable the side panels must be removable as well so clearance of any attachments must allow the side floor panels to be lifted up and removed.

The panels I made are from scrap 10mm ply, some aluminium 'L' angle and strip and four picture frame hooks all of which I found in the garage/junk box and two thin Dk Grey carpet panels from eBay (These were my only outlay at £11.00pr) I would have preferred plain but could only find ribbed mats but the colour is close match and as I usually use a larger bit of ribbed dk grey to protect the floor it matches.

At the rear the aluminium  angle was slid behind the rearmost inner upright surround held in place by the tightness of the surround and the side moulding, however I did not want to use screws to stop the aluminium sliding up or down so used a strip of double sided tape to hold in position. At the front I ST screwed through the aluminium angle and into 3 body clips also found in the junk box, I cut the side mouldings and slipped the 3 clips onto the moulding effectively sandwiching the moulding between aluminium angle and the rear of the clip. The aluminium angle must be bent to shape so that the faces are parallel to each other so these and the panel are flush.

The panels will not lift straight up  due to the slightly inclined rear vertical moulding so the lower bracket on the panel is off-set or spaced further away to allow the panel to angle in then be able to slide down the attachment brackets with the hooks to just hook over the top of the brackets. I added carpet to both panel ends to reduce any damage to the interior rear upright moulding when removing or placing.

I have attached a some photos that show what I did. Once in place these are very firm and give virtually no movement even when given a hefty tug.
