Top Boost Pipe with an Airtec FMIC - Anyone done it?

Featured Replies

So I've got an Airtec FMIC that I'm planning on fitting to my vRS this weekend. Anyone who has an Airtec will know the pipework stops at the standard, plastic top boost pipe. What I want to know has anyone fitted an alloy pipe and silicone 90 degree bend between EGR delete and the pipework that Airtec provide? If so, what did you use to do it?

Having read many things on here, I've decided that a 45 degree bend alloy pipe (as per this one http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/alloy-45-degree-elbow-polished-alloy-bend-joiner.html) will hopefully connect nicely between the two, earlier mentioned, silicone bends with minimal trimming involved.

If anyone can confirm or deny whether this will work, it'll be much appreciated

I'm running the airtec FMIC haven't replaced top pipes but runs sweet as a dream mate

Im in the exact same position, I have the Airtec FMIC fitted, its been running great on the standard top pipe, but i want to fit an EGR Delete.

So im interested in any pipes you find that fit :)

I got one made up :)

Looks like I'll be the guinea pig on this one a little bit then, I can't be bothered getting anything made up I'd prefer to just buy a couple of parts and stick them on there. Someone on that thread about the DIY top boost pipe had the 45 degree bend and a 90 degree silicone but I don't know what angle the coupler below the alloy pipe was at etc. I might just order the parts I think will fit and see what happens then I can report back on here

I've left the EGR on but took the pipe that goes from the egr to the exhaust off, blanked off both sides, it will turn on the engine management light on which will need to be mapped out

This is one of mine I recently sold, I have them in different colours.

Obviously that's to fit an egr valve and standard intercooler.

Where do you get them boost hoses from mate or have you made them up .... Also do they just replace the standard pipe going on to egr cheers

I beleive my bit of pipe I bought was a 75 degree bend and it fits perfectly :) I'll try and link you it

Mine was something like that but I'm sure mine was a total of 600mm overall length

I make mine myself now. Based on the original pipework it has two bends so it goes smoothly around the coolant bottle before bending down again into the intercooler.

Spot on think I'll be making some up then as mine are leaking as normal .... Where do you get the hose ends from so they still use the standard fitments cheers

I think the Airtec pipe work stops roughly where that green 45 degree bend is, one of those bends comes with the airtec kit. What angle and length is the alloy pipe in the middle?

If you put 51mm 70 degree bend into ebay then pipewerx sell one that has the longest returns.

Then use ASH hoses to get a 51mm 90 degree bend. Or a 57mm to 51mm reducing bend if you fit a race egr?

Rob :)
