Briskoda How Fast 2015 Bedford 02/05/2015

Featured Replies

Ah, that was the session I could not attend and to be honest I forgotten about it!

Yes, a bit more work to be done then :D.

Now I am not sure whether the time shown on the website is my latest time as I think I did it after the Briskie HowFast? last year...

With RARB and on, hopefully, this time dry track I could improve a little bit :).

With Richard's times in ST it shows how important a good suspension is!

And driving skills of course ;)

  • Unlikely, I'm quite slow apparently. I just do well because I have a flash car.

I will be aiming at 1:30 in the Golf, not too ambitious but should be achievable as the car is now mapped, last year it was just gulping fuel at a rate of a gallon a lap.

Not expecting to be anywhere near Jason or Richard but third would be nice  ;)

I'll be aiming to finish

To be honest with you the result is a bonus. What I am after is knowledge that I did my best, took the best lines I could, braked at the exactly right time and managed to drive back home under my own steam :). If I manage to do that then regardless of the end result I will be more than happy. Meeting with fellow Briskodians is always something I am looking forward to as well!

Me too, as I am driving up to Stockport to a rolling road day right after.  Good thrashing and then a dyno run.  Lovely! :D

Considering how close we were at Blyton I'd be surprised if you weren't in the 1:28 at least.

It should be a match for the Yeti pre TT-RS transplant.

1:30 is under selling it IMO, you'll be right up there.

1.40.70 to beat...........but I'll be on the mighty Nankangs this time with any luck, so I'll have no excuses if it's dry

Thank you for your positive comments Richard.  Lets see when we are there.  I will bring the slicks again and some spacers so heres hoping it will be dry, did I mention I have bought a new set of Federals too  ;)

Slicks... sounds like serious contender for 1st then.

Shame it's not a Skoda. :D

That is provided the track stays dry, otherwise all that power will be wasted and pure skill will come to the fore

*quietly prays for the rain*

I had a day with opentrack.co.uk at Bedford. I took tuition (they offer it for free!!!), the chap was a retired multiple Porsche GT champ. After my laps we had a chat in the suite munching on free refreshments. He told his fellow instructors that my car was the worst vehicle in terms of grip he ever sat his wrinkly ar$e in, it was on ball bearings. I must admit I had very cheap Chinese rubber on my lightweight rims back then and it was wet.

He was very complementary and really happy with the progress I'd made between the first and the last lap of my tuition.

Bottom line - always make use of tuition on track if you can!

I have had them for nearly a year now and they haven't been on the car yet!  Every track day I have done since buying the slicks it has poured with rain, except the last How Fast when I needed spacers.

Technically it is a Skoda'ish type car but I know what you mean. Just don't look at the badge  :peek:

Let's keep our fingers crossed for dry weather then.

James, when you had your vRS at HowFast?, didn't you have yellowstuff pads on at the time?

Dave (sharkrider) think he runs yellowstuff on his Fab VRS, got Yellow's on my Octy no complaints from me, redstuff before these didn't rate them, useless from cold and fade with heavy use, EBC seem to get very mixed reviews.

I will see how my current brakes fare at Castle Combe and then will either buy yellowstuff or leave as is. Brand new OEM rotors and pads from Pagid. Not run in yet but cold bite is epic so far, not tried repeated heave braking to check for fade.

Yellowstuff had good and tested in battle reviews from sharkrider and that is enough of a recommendation for me - he doesn't crap around tracks :)

I have not had any official confirmation of this yet and my CC has not been debited, has anyone had the CC charged and Email confirmation yet.

Nope, not yet.

Unfortunately I can't make this now as we have to fly to my Homeland as something came up... :(

I already called MSV and cancelled it...Have Fun All...!!

I think you should speak to Jason or Richard if you need advice on how to go about at CC.... :)

I'm sure you'll go fine Jabo.

Barriers make people take it a bit easy, but once you've dialled in after a lap or two you stop noticing them.

Just don't go too hot over Avon rise on the first lap or two as there isn't much braking time between that and Quarry if you are going for it.

That's where most of the "moments" tend to happen.

^ in a nutshell...

I was more after, say, "turn 6 is off camber so worth taking it easy there", "turn 2 has a very crap patch of tarmac on the inside so stay off the normal racing line" :)
