Cave oil consumption new fix updated two days ago by vag

Featured Replies

Squirters sounds like a step forward. I still think that is not the whole thing, oil scraper rings would have to be changed as well, so much bigger job.

Small Update from Australia.

After 9 weeks and approx. 4500kms my car has used around 450-500ml of oil after the installation of the squitters. Fuel consumption is normal (as it was before the fix).

Much better than the 900ml / 1000km I was getting.

Thanks for the update - sounds like I'm off to see the dealer next week. :sun:

well i contacted skoda uk who haven't heard of this potential fix, nothing new there then with them, i even offered my car as a test car. i stressed to them how i was unable to sell this car without my conscience getting the better of me but there not interested. As jim from the royal family would say, customer service....my arse

Skoda UK are paying for this to be done on cars in the UK,

so someone at Skoda HQ in Milton Keynes must be talking nonsense.

'Oil Spray Jet'.

George, you and I can both read that on here from real people but i liken skoda UK to an ostrich that buries its head in the sand

I could always send another email but if i only get to the same level of customer 'not so good' service then its a fruitless exercise, i even said to the lady i feel very sorry for the person that ends up with this car unlike skoda who dont seem to care and rely on an oil test where they weigh the oil on a set of scales bought from argos (thats a fact). Shocking but what can i do

only a few more weeks and then it wont be my problem but at least i tried, unlike the dealer who's sold me 11 bottles of oil since Christmas and not battered an eyelid ( i had a voucher hence why i bought there overpriced bottles )

Tell them to google 'Squirters'

then after they watch that, they can do some work and check on the Oil Spray Jets.

lol George, i could tell anyone to goggle 'squirters' and keep a straight face , try it for yourself and see but make sure there's no kids about

back on track, i know what you mean and i was on the phone about 20 mins but as they say, you can lead a horse to water etc etc

if you write a letter to alistair stewart does anyone know if 'he' reads them or just passes them down the chain?

Email or Written communication for the attention of ALASDAIR STEWART, Brand Director SKODA UK, can get his attention

& then Tom Chadwick, John Good, Dan Wilson or some other Customer Services Manager might deal with it.

Be sure to get a Handler, Case Number & ask to talk with a Customer Services Manager.

Maybe Try

Dave Allen - I bet he's a right comedian :D .

Even just look up Skoda UK Media, Marketing Manager Sarah Chapman, HR, just anyone at Skoda UK,

or VW in Germany, and get Emails to them  CEO Skoda, CEO VW,  Copy them all in,

they will get the idea.

There is someone with a Facebook entry that tells Alasdair Stewart like it is with Skoda UK Customer Sevices,

not enough people seem to.

My CTHE vRS Fabia Estate is having it's squirter's and ECU map done as we speak.

Will report on the outcome; my dealer is very supportive over this issue.

Tony, would you mind sending me a pm with the dealer who is carrying out this work ( i don't want to identify you or anything ). I'll give it a week before i send a letter so it doesn't compromise your work but i find it quite disgusting that only a few days ago im told by somebody paid by skoda that there not aware of this 'fix' yet here we are yet again with somebody having the work carried out

i fully understand if you don't wish to so i wont mention it again here either way but it would be nice to have this example to shove down their throat rather than just say its all over google

thanks

Just thought I would add my ten pence worth. My 2011 CAVE engine seemed to honk oil but I just got on with it. It went in for a major service after a years ownership and since then seems to be much better on its oil. Odd!! Not sure if they did something unknown to me but happy days. Fortunately I don't do great mileage so not an issue really.

the squirters could of potentially worked on my cave motor, the problem was when i bought the car it was using loads of oil and running rubbish on idle, when they did the breather mod it was STILL using oil and still running rubbish on idle then they fitted the squirter jets after that i couldn't really see any oil over my boot like i used to be able to but it was still running rubbish on idle but with no fault codes because they ran for them so they thought the years of systematic oil use had ruined it thus new engine fitted ( oil did probably bugger the cave engine in fairness) then after that it was really lumpy and juddered in 5th gear so i thought that the mechtronic unit had unluckily gone as a result of the engine change so i take it back to the garage for some updates and diagnosis turns out they use all the old sensors off the old engine and all along the MAP sensor was on the blink but still that cave was a time bomb so happy days

Thomas, are you certain that New Oil Spray Jets were installed to your Original CAVE Engine, before they then decided to replace that engine?

How long did the process take from you dropping the car off at the Dealership, to you collecting it and the new 'Squirters' having been fitted.

& did you get a Copy of the Invoice?

Yea they fitted the new squirters it took a full day they picked it up and dropped it off

Mine only took a day.

Well technically 2 but they forgot to order new sump pan bolts.

If and when you do have the squirters done make sure they install new sump pan bolts as these are a one time use only item.

Danield, are you in the UK or where are you?

So what was the story on yours, which engine, how many miles, Did you get Breather & ECU update,

how much oil used before and since?

See quoted post. Engine is a CAVE. Car is 2013 model.

My car has the new squirters fitted; took 2 days. Car returned, exhaust light came on immediately, car ran like a pig, returned car to the garage.

So no progress yet.

I thought they stopped shipping CAVE motors late 2012...

Sounds like they messed up smt during the work?

See page 3 posts #86, #89 & #90.

It is called ****ing in the wind, or the blind leading the Blind.

VW / Skoda are taking the pith, and they just keep on trying what ever is possible, with no details given to the drivers

what can be expected.

VW / Skoda should maybe explain why the CTHE Engines & the Replacement CAVE engines fitted in the past 24-36 months

are not all running the best components and Software on the ECU's,

and any not on their World Wide Records are not being Called in for a Service Campaign carried out be Qualified Technicians with an understanding of the Fundamental Design & Build & Quality Control failures.

My mistake. Just had a look and it is build date March 2012. First sold in November 2013 in Australia.

No worries, I simply thought that perhaps in The Land of Oz CAVE motors were being sold into 2013 :)
