Superb L&K Columbus TV tuner

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2014 L&K Superb Est which has a Columbus Nav system with TV Tuner. The problem I am having is that it only seems to have 5 BBC channels available and nothing else. The EPG has 5 channels and nothing else and there are no station pre-sets and I cannot find a way to tune it.

Could someone tell me how to auto tune it to scan for all the freeview channels in my area as pre-sets as there is nothing in the manual on how to do this.We should have all the freeview channels to choose from not just 5 BBC channels. It also seems to have Analog enabled but this is no longer used in UK so needs to be switched off.

Regards

On my 2012 L & K I go to the station list and simply select the station I want which I believe amounts to free view. Once selected I then go to the presets and starting at one press and hold that until it beeps and changes the pre select to show that station is selected. Bear in mind that the station list changes as you move about the country for obvious reasons.

I am going to ask. Where is your manual for this as those instructions are in it, if they are missing get the dealer to supply it or down load it.

I have just re read your post so I realise you have the manual. It is where I got my original info three years ago, I think I remember. Ha ha. No emnicons on iPad.

the station list is updated dependant on what channels are available post tuning.

Tuning is automatic and I have found no way of forcing a retune, however driving to a different area and selecting TV does seem to initiate a retune.

The reply above seems to be describing how to store an available channel as one of your programmes.

A stored programme will disappear or show not available when you drive to an area where the tuner can not find the broadcast signal.

I suspect but can not prove that selecting "station list" may also initiate tuning.

Its a grey area on a colour tv.

Not uploaded with a fashion pc or phone hahaha

Don't know if I can help but my Columbus often randomly will only play the last selected tv channel only and the station list is empty.

My remedy is not to play/push any buttons (ensuring I am in a known tv freeview reception area) turn off the Columbus unit, get out of the car, lock via central locking, wait 10 minutes, get back into car select media button,tv button and all channels are back.

I think the Columbus gets confused,it does have to do a lot of different functions.

Some info here but typically written by a techie.http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/mini-apps/owners-manuals/superb

When mine throws a wobble and it has done so some 40 plus times in the near three years it takes about 8-8.5 minutes to finish its wobble and re-set itself.

Issue has been partly fixed by a firmware update at the dealer. It is also dependent on how strong the signal is in the area.

I have just bought an L&K with DVB TV. Can I just ask how much TV people are watching in the car?  In my view this TV is just a gimmick because mine switches of when I start driving.

It does not switch off just stops the picture (above 5kph) but keeps the sound as it is illegal to watch TV/DVDs pictures while driving. The latest versions from Land Rover are clever enough to just block the picture for the driver while letting the front passenger still able to view the screen.

More of a gimmick than you would think as the unit will pulls so much power you cant watch for long without starting the engine.

Can be very useful though when stuck in traffic jams.

As what  superb4me said.  that's the remedy.

The tv part of the Columbus if tv buttons/station list is used on the move or in a zero freeview reception area can suffer a memory loss.

Re firmware update, dealer talk I am afraid.

Edit.  26DIPP  yes the screen is blanked out when on the move but the audio is still heard, sometimes that's an improvement !. judge rinder :D .

Just another question about the TV. Often I get a picture but not all channels seem to come with / have sound. I have sound and picture with BBC News, RT News and very few of the movie channels.

Does the sound part depend on signal strength or is there a setting that I have not found?
