New focus rs - looks a bit pants imho...

Featured Replies

The RS will most likely have a blow up kit. My mk2 rs had this and a spare was not even an option. People would retrofit the spare wheel kit in the Ford polystyrene organiser in the boot as there was no wheel well!!

  • And I've gone right off the RS3 idea. £40k plus for a car that#'s slower than my Yeti and has an automatic box...

  • I'd have one in a heartbeat if I had the money

  • Be it 'chav' or not. This and it's 400 ponies bring a smile to my face. The more I've seen of the mk3 the more I've come around to it. Purely for its driving characteristics. My local ford don't

Thanks for the above. Think the item I put up earlier said that the boot size had reduced by approx 30% compared to the ST,due to a fairly Complex structure supporting the 4WD Unit. In my R there is room available for the Space saver and tool kit but similarly the boot size is reduced compared to the GTI.

sounds from what I've read that boot space will be fairly compromised,so may be Ford will never offer a space saver option

Recall some Skods Octavia mk3 buyers never ticking the option box and then finding a spare priced option of approx £400. They did at least have room under the cover to install it though. Potential business for the aftermarket boys.

Basically they are all 4 wheel passenger vehicles that have to use the same body if they are the basic car or the top of the range or the ones that are the Hot Version or going to be used in Motorsport,

and the designers are interchangeable from one Manufacturer to another.

You need Air Intake for Cooling, Arches that covers the Rubber and Enhancements to keep them on the ground,

they do end up looking much of a muchness.

There is hardly anything unique in car design in recent years other than Air Bubbles on the Citroen Cactus.

Soft Panel covers might be the next big thing in Rally Inspired 4 Door Saloon and Hatch backs.

Still room for hard edges or curves though or bigger more pronounced spoilers. Aggressive or subtle?

So the "Even Hotter" Limited Volume RS is on it's way according to the Autocar/Ford article today. Check it out.

  • 1 month later...
  • 4 weeks later...

At least the Autoexpress review identifies some of the non user friendly sides of the ownership of this Super Hot Hatch.

Lack of rear space for reasonable sized adults /family even though it has 5 doors.

Boot space no bigger than the Fiesta ST is not family friendly either

So no space saving spare available , that does save some weight ,even if a bit inconvenient when caught short at night or out in the countryside roads .

Been asked to leave Mr Boss's topic thread on the Focus RS. following my last review entries yesterday, a head of his.

So thought I would use the Original Topic threads to raised them again for independent viewing.

You were asked to stop posting Golf R drivel in there as you already have a Golf R thread full of it.

Or posting blatantly false statements like putting a picture of a Focus RS up and claiming it looks just like a regular focus so doesn't stand out.

You are welcome on any thread where you don't post biased stuff like that.

We all know no car is perfect.

The RS isn't a looker and does have a small boot.

But claiming it looks just like a stock Focus and going on about the Golf R is just spamming up the thread.

:)

vrskeith,

Simples, do not buy one as the Family car if you need it as a People Mover more than occasionally, or take the family, friends or whoever with you on the road test, if it is no use, then best not get one.

It is a Focus AWD, they will sell you a Focus Estate, Mondeo / Estate, or some other bigger car if you want.

Ford even do a 2 door fast car in a choice of engines & RWD if you want, no idea of the size of the boot in those.

Those seems like the car that road testers should be comparing to the BMW 2 door Coupes rather than a Fast Ford 5 door.

There are some really negative people on Brisky these days :( It's almost like they can't be happy for other people who might like their own cars as much as the 'negative people', or even worse, the car the other member owns is better than the troller's!

I feel sure the RS will be a mighty car, small boot notwithstanding and also it's secondhand value perhaps not holding up as well as some more 'alleged' premium Uber hatches, but for me, it's what it feels like to drive that counts. I have a car with a small boot, slightly ungainly looks and is very compromised in inclement weather (managed an accidental slow speed mini-rotation in the slippery local Sainsbury's underground car park today :D). If the Focus is as enjoyable to drive (or perhaps more so) and is an all-weather weapon, I couldn't give 2 figs for it's looks. I really did love the old 5 cylinder version though :)

C'mon Brisky, surely this is a forum for car 'lovers' not green eyed members who snipe away and refuse to admit other Briskodians may simply just not consider the fan boys car to be a first choice purchase. Anyhoo, the RS/R/A45/M will never be the boss as long as a Fabia 2.0 petrol is still on the road somewhere.

Boss,

Shame you chose to take this one line comment and show it insolation, rather than the joking context entries by me and others ,I seem to recall.

Don't see that you have attacked them in your Topic thread ; very sensitive for no apparent reason imo.

"You were asked to stop posting Golf R drivel in there as you already have a Golf R thread full of it.

Actual comments were relating to various stealth comments in jest on the day!

Won't be commenting in YOUR Topic thread again - hope that reassures you.

I am not getting into a debate about it Keith, because we all have better things to do.

At the end of the day, we are just car fans and it's not serious or important enough.

Lost the video in transfer.

Shame it was pretty good in Drift mode.

Another CHAVY ford, no class and I can already see it adorning the drive on a council house. #sorry just saying

Doubt whether many council house renters will be blowing 30k on a Focus RS to be honest

I'm which case, sir, you have no place in a car enthusiasts forum! :)

I just hope you don't really think a beemer 320d is "better"?

Just sayin' :)

I really want to like this. On paper the stats are good. 345bhp, 4wd, £30k. What puts me off is the "drift button". It's a bit of a gimmick and has influence from Ken Block which puts me off further.

Cars may have lots of features, it doesn't mean you have to use them ;)

I quite like that focus, does it still have the volvo t5 engine?
