New focus rs - looks a bit pants imho...

Featured Replies

Read the Top gear 2000 mile test drive in this months magazine. Usual comment about the fixed seat option leaves you too high but other than that excellent reviews with comments like "Game Changing". The reviewer said that if he had to drive the 2000 miles again and could choose any car to do it in he'd chose to do it in the RS again.

And as for image..

The dirty RS was parked in Casino Square with polished Lambo's and Ferarri's and the crowd of people were around the Ford. That's the pull and heritage of a RS Ford.

In the same addition the new Civic Type R gets slated by it's long term test reviewer. After 2700 miles he'd be happy for it to go back.

  • And I've gone right off the RS3 idea. £40k plus for a car that#'s slower than my Yeti and has an automatic box...

  • I'd have one in a heartbeat if I had the money

  • Be it 'chav' or not. This and it's 400 ponies bring a smile to my face. The more I've seen of the mk3 the more I've come around to it. Purely for its driving characteristics. My local ford don't

Will try and get a read, saw it in magazine rack in supermarket last night. No time to flick through.

How do they quantify "Game Changer" relating to day to day driving or is that into Track driving mode only?

It's the way the AWD operates. The haldex system is reactive, it reacts to loss of traction etc but the system Ford uses is pre-emptive, it can transfer 70% torque rearwards and 100% left or right but it does this to assist the driving experience using data from various sensors and driver inputs. They say the system feels alive and responsive.

They also say Ford have sacrificed ultimate performance stats to give more driving pleasure and feel on the road. It's no Nurburgring track monster it's designed to be massively quick but massively fun.

Just spotted a new focus "RS" in a Tesco carpark near me this morning. Maybe an early pre-production version? ;-)

Doesn't look all that agressive in the flesh...... Lol

Thats one 'sleeper, ;)

It really would be if it was fitted with 'all the gear' from a RS and the badge was not fitted.

(like with a Blue Yeti.)

Auto express has the focus RS beating it's VW and Audi opposition. Plus, it's cheaper.

Looks like the same kind of idiot who puts an M3 badge on a diesel 3 series

Definitely looks like an Audi RS badge. Why o why do people do this? It's horrendous! :-(

It's a wannabe Focus RS, leave them alone :) not all are fortunate to have the powerful versions.

I know of a pensioner that "pimps" his cars to have all the badges and even painted his brake callipers!

So is this the reason for the delays off World /UK deliveries, as pointed out by another Potential Owner, waiting his Drifting /track toy.

Just back from my dealer. Info I have been given is this (don't shoot the messenger  )

1) Build delays were caused by an engine mount problem. Apparently some journo gunned it and the engine mount failed

2) Current Ford plan is to bypass Flushing and put all :rs: 's on a train straight to the docks. That may change but it's the latest info he's heard

Autotrader current hot hatch reviews but excludes the M2.

Thought this review was pretty  poor in the detail and structure compared to TG version last year and this more recent comparison.

This was quite good from the Focus RS owners club  site, general chat.

So TG tells us what we already know ,that Mountune are finalizing a package for the Focus RS.

Removing the embarrassment of the TG drag sprint ,shown in the other attached video.

Oh dear oh dear :-(

Very sloooow indeed considering its power and 4WD! :-(

I guess they are lucky it's the best drivers car by a country mile in it's segment :) I still hope that the new 5 cylinder Audi engine will eventually make it's way into the RS3 and Audi sort out the handing :) I think I read the engine is around 25kg lighter than the current one.

I read the 1.8 TSI engine in the New VW Polo is lighter than the old 1.4 TSI Twincharger,

oddly the new cars are heavier than they ones with the heavier engine and gearbox.

Yep. Tom.

M2 out paced it on track(just),  at Llandow, in the dry admittedly, in the video from Autoexpress.

Oh! but it is £16k more expensive.

A45 AMG just out drags the M2 as George pointed out in the new M2 thread - so looks like it's horses for courses and not an outright win for the Focus RS

or the M2
