Looks like I'm out now. Been scheduled to go on a two week course for work and won't be back until late on the 24th and SWMBO'll kill me if I go to this after two weeks away. Gutted :(

As a newbie to a track day.

What can you do to prepare yourself / car for a track day?

Im guessing 1 would be avoiding watching too many fast &furious movies beforehand.

As long as car is mechanically sound there should be nothing you really need to do.

 

Only advice is ensure car is warmed up before hammering it (tyres mainly) and when done, do not leave parked with handbrake on.  Just leave in gear whilst brakes cool down.

And what about tyres?

Standard day to day driving tyres ok?

And im asumimg track use would put more strain on certain parts of the car.

So long as they arent brand new, then standard road tyres should be ok, but expect some wear.

Best advice for a novice is start slow and build up your speed and confidence. Remember it's not a race and have fun

If you want to be a clubstand only "reserve for track" then that's fine.
