VRS 2.0TSI, Issues Post Injector Fail

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've been stalking this site for a while but I now need to call on your expertise/experience as I'm drawing a blank and am close to breaking the internet with all the searches :nerd:

About 6 weeks ago Injector #3 failed open which caused CEL and EPC shutdown with thick blue smoke out of the back. Since the injector replace I have experienced a "judder" when in idle and the odd occasion when the car struggles off the line or/and judders between 2000 & 3000 rpm when accelerating in high gear. Off the line its almost like there's a flatspot in the acceleration curve but finds itself again after about 0.5s.

Naturally I have returned it to Skoda (a few times now) who have checked coils, changed plugs, cleaned all injectors, swapped injectors 1&3, compression tested and updated the ECU to latest software but the issue is still there - if anything the hesitation and acceleration judder is worsening.

Since I have had it back there have been a couple of codes but none have returned since cleared

1. Lambda sensor low voltage (I think this was the one after the CAT)

2. P0303, appeared when accelerating 2000-3000rpm in 6th (50mph+) - Injectors have been cleaned and swapped since.

Your expert thoughts and suggestions are appreciated as I am at a loss

Thanks

Andy

After 12 weeks of hassle, internet research, independent dealers and "no fault found" from 2 Skoda dealers, at cost risk to myself I insisted dealer #2 removed the intake manifold and checked the seals were fitted correctly and even if the injector was the correct part number.

As it happens, dealer #1 fitted the wrong injector for my car - fitted the 1.8 part not the 2.0, that would explain the P0303 code.

Dealer #2 replaced with correct injector and have been driving it for 2 weeks with no issues at all

Brilliant news!

Any recompense from the original dealer? Sounds like you've been severely inconvenienced!

Has been a nightmare but I persevered.

Meeting with SM of garage on Saturday as have out of pocket expenses to get back.

Skoda HQ have given me a 12 month warranty as good will to protect their brand so there's peace of mind in case of any knock on effects

If you don't get anywhere ask for a written report from dealer #2 as to what they found / carried out to rectify the issue - you will then have the required evidence to start a small claims court case for your losses and reasonable inconvenience.

Hopefully it won't go that far - but I would suggest that they would capitulate.

Don't be greedy - but stand your ground for recompence and something for your inconvenience.
