Green mould/algae on the seals will affect any car parked in certain conditions, usually around under trees. All mine get it if I don't keep them clean.

This is the first car I have had this problem with and none of my cars have been parked any where near a tree,always in the same place in the front of my house.

How odd ...

Had a similar problem with my Citigo steering when it would suddenly pull left.If I switched the engine off and restarted the fault cleared until the next time it decided to play up.Local main dealer was great and able to fix it really quickly.

 

CUSTOMER WARRANTY REPORT....SKODA TPI  2035704/2 VEHICLE PULLS TO ONE SIDE  (CITIGO).

Car falls within TPI. Removed surrounding parts and removed steering column.Replaced CONTROL UNIT.

Carried out CODING of new unit.

 

Since then car has been driving great.Hope this helps you.

 

 

Thanks for the info there, Mine has done this a few times, very strong pull to the left. It was so bad on the motorway I pulled over because I though there was something really wrong with the car. Limped it back home but since then it hasn't done it. Which kinda sounds like the above.

 

I will get it look at on its service.

 

To the OP - trying to find ramdom faults are always hard. Annoying as it might be and in your case very worrying, keep a note/diary of when the events happen. Weather, temp, type of road etc.......it might help find a link to what causes the problem.

Just taken the car into Alex Lawries,basically they were not interested started by accusing me of 'using chemicals' on the car! and then when I explained it was a common problem with the green mould/algae growing on the seals I was accused of not cleaning the car properly.Have to take the car in again next week for the 'warranty guy' to have a look.Waste of time and petrol.

Took the car back today,started off with 'we will take photos and send a report to Skoda'.By the time I left this had been advanced to just bring in next Tuesday and we will replace both window seals.Will report back next week.

All done!,looks alot better now.

I used to scrub the bottom window seal when I had a Citigo, at 2 years old they were ok but Kept on getting the green algae on.

Now I have the Toledo it's on all 4 window seals, all cleaned up now but I bet it will be back after a few weeks.

Might just be my eyesight but,I think the new trim is different from the old trim-a little thicker,more sturdy perhaps.
