Added Security on Skoda

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Yeti, any ideas on the best security to safe guard it?

Always fitting when parked a Bright Yellow Steering Wheel Locks & a Pedal Lock and both locked together with a Motorcycle chain.

That will not stop it being taken away on a Low Loader though.

Tried a steering lock, it does not go over the air bag on the steering wheel.
I have a tracker on it, but want a deterrent to stop it going.

That would have to be a big wheel clamp then.

Can i be blunt though,

a Skoda Yeti is not going to be high of the stealer of Prestige cars list.

Most crooks will know it has an alarm an immobiliser.

Not sure why you'd want more unless it's something rare or highly stolen?

Those dogs really are not big enough to deter theft of an older Land Rover.

They escape out the gaps.

Not sure if this option is available in the EU.

Got to agree with George's thoughts there.

However, here's an alternative suggestion:-

I always thought the badge on the front does a good job of repelling people :D? The way I've always thought about it is why steal my car when there's a nicer BMW/Jaguar/Audi etc around the corner?

Because yours is left in dark streets with no lighting and has a satnav ring stain on the windscreen kind of thing. You get the picture, these aren't stolen to order this would be more of your opportunist taking a Yeti.

That reminds me. Must remove ring stain.

Nothing worse than abit of ring stain.

Well yeah, but on the same dark street as mine there's a much nicer, more expensive Jaguar XF for example. I find it hard to think that even opportunists wouldn't be slightly picky about what they take unless I left the keys in it or something, to make it super easy. Can modern cars even be stolen by mere "opportunists" anymore? I thought that now you have to have the right kit etc to take modern cars so surely you'd be careful about what you take?

Opportunists mug the people or take the keys through letterbox nowadays

Must be an extremely rare situation though surely? I've lived on a council estate all my life and I don't really tend to hear many stories of car theft anymore. Back when I was younger was a little different, people were doing burnouts/handbrake turns etc,  probably in stolen cars, near our house every night. These days though vandalism tends to be the worst thing around here generally.

I have.

We live in a nice area, category B on this site..

Had an RS4 nicked the other month.. Nocked on a mates door n tried to get his GTR keys.. Few landrover defenders, and an A3 (although she did leave the spare key in the centre console, which was abit silly lol).

The high end stuff was all breaking into the house for the keys, defenders are obv just easy anyway.

None were skodas, as far as im aware.

It's what I used to. Window halfway down, keys on the seat. Dog on the keys.

Even used to leave a note on the dashboard. "Car theives - no hotwire neccessary - keys on seat - Good luck!"

I don't think that those cars would be opportunists though, they'd probably be scoped out with the idea of selling it off, given how valuable and desirable they are.  It comes back to this really:

They'd walk right past a Skoda and go for something like your RS4, which is unfortunate because it means owning a high end car is more of a worry for you. Part of the appeal of an octavia vrs for me was that it's not bad in terms of speed/power (obviously no RS4) but most people just see it as a taxi with bigger alloys and a spoiler. I've never really had any worries about it being stolen, even though my area is a Cat D according to that list. I'd think exactly the same about a yeti if I owned one.

My condolences on having such a nice car taken though :(

A piece of thick (motorcycle type) chain attached to the seat adjuster bar (if you have a bar) and padlocked around the steering wheel when parked up, made me feel better as when I purchased the car I only received one key fob and was worried that someone could come with the spare key after finding my address and just drive away.

I did not know if the people or the garage where it was purchased from were trustworthy.

Highly unlikely it was gonna get nicked this way as it would have been traced back to said garage. but as it also had my work tools in it would have cost me over a grand in replacement tools alone, not to mention lost revenue.

Sorry, just realised how that read. It wasnt my RS4, i meant in the local area. I wish i had an rs4 haha.

N yeah i agree. What i was getting at though is they tend to go for the keys anyway, and there havent been any skodas done that i know of. Not worth the hassle for the value is it.

They might break into a skoda for a sat nav, but theyre unlikely to go to the effort of actually driving it away.

Seems to be an increase in motorbike thefts though, which does concern me somewhat.

YEARS ( WELL YONKS AGO ) ,I read of a report of an ATTEMPTED theft of an old BMC/BL Mini. This was abroad ,in a Bulawayo paper. Apparently , the owner ( Wildlife Ranger) had parked up to get some smokes ,and as a lot of fol;ks had fitted alarms on the front doors, thief's started to remove rear windows, especially after they spotted something wrapped in a towel/blanket on the rear seat. The started to remove the item, which turned out to be a young Croc ,which the driver was taking back to rehab. Police had no problems with the offenders.

i've noticed the photos of the two Doberman. Nice, but out there ,a tasty car- with dogs- bring in a she in heat. Problem sorted.
