Mud flaps on a new vrs definitive!

Featured Replies

I didnt take the mud flaps as I didnt like the look, its purely a personal preference though

I have thought this as well but after putting them on my white Octavia, they really are quite unnoticeable because they sit next to the black tires.

Any issues with the flaps scraping off speed bumps or the ground in he lower VRS? I am still undecided whether to get them when I put in an order to superskoda...

I dont have a vrs, but I dont think this would be the issue. If the front spoiler can pass over a bump, dont see why then the rear of the car shouldnt.

I have had mud flaps fitted to my VRS almost since day one. I had them thrown in by the dealer, fitted them myself - very easy to do.

Never had any issues with them catching on anything either.

They don't seem to help me with the coverage of dirt, but I like the look of them on, and also hope they are protecting the sills from big stones etc :)

Just ordered mine, fingers crossed easy to fit!

And the awkward to get to screw, just left mine off as it hold fine without it. Havent had any problems with them, and they make a big difference to the amount of dirt up the car IMO.

No problems with speed bumps. They catch occasionally if I reverse up against a curb, but they just bend and flap back into place after.

I'm with meb, they don't stop all the dirt.  They must help though.

No issues with grounding.

The kit I got came with some rubber push in grommits which I was able to use for that far screw. From what I could gather it depends on whether you have a diesel or not as to whether you need to use the screw. I did manage to get it on without removing the wheel though.

I didn`t fit mine to minimise dirt, when you`re travelling fast and the swirl of the air and water around the car means it`ll still get covered but it stops stones and grit pebbledashing the paint :)

Finally got around to installing the front set.

Easily done by turning the wheel as needed and using the star screw driver in the boot tool kit.

The genuine kit comes with a push in plastic plug...but you have to drill a small hole where the 3rd hold is (furthest hole away) but i'll do it another time.

When washing my car recently I noticed dirt trapped between car and flap with 2 flaps.  It was easy to just flex the flap away a little and clean the dirt out but worth watching out for as I suspect if not cleaned out it could damage paint.

+1

Yep, I have an old paintbrush for such a duty.

Good call
