Audi A5 advice please

Hi All

I currently own a Citigo sport but I have a long commute to work each week so thinking of upgrading to something a little more comfortable.

I've had a look around at various cars for sale online and spotted this

http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-car-locator/a5/2.0-tdi-quattro-black-edition/derby/604923723-35651.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

My other half says there are quite a few Audi owners amongst us Skoda owners so I'm looking for any advice, hints and tips on what to watch out for and general thoughts on this before I potentially call the dealer to book a test drive

Thanks in advance

Jo

I will also be buying one of these as soon as the PCP is up on my blackline. I will be going for the 3.0 tdi though 0-60 under 6 secs with awesome fuel efficiency.

Maybe have a look at an A6, the interior is a much nicer place than the A4/5. You might even get a 190 Ultra for that sort of budget (though probably not through Audi), though it's more likely to be a 177. Also price up a new one through DtD or Carwow, you might be surprised at how cheap they can be on PCP.

When is the PCP up? The missus did say she would consider a vRS, as long as it was a Race blue hatch ;)

Make sure you can live with only two massive doors.

You need plenty of space to get out.

I'd rather have an A6 as the A5 is just an A4 coupe at the end of the day and not as nice.

BTW I think your all mad above. The A5 is sexy as hell. The A7 is ugly from the rear and the A6 just looks like a squashed A8 or Stretched A4. Every now and again a car comes along that is more than the some of its parts. The A5 is so sexy its in a different league the curves are simply stunning its like Leonardo da Vinci designed it! I might be a little biased being a design engineer but form sometimes has to be put over function. The A5 convertible oh my I think I had a little sex wee.

I am only considering four cars next.

1. Audi A5 Coupe or Convertible

2. Golf R

3. Mustang 2015 RHD

4. MERCEDES C250 AMG

Budget is just under 30k

can't think of anything else that would make me sign on the dotted line.

That's like saying Megan fox is just a brunette.

I agree on this the doors are huge! I followed my A5 with an A6 and the A6 is miles better! 3.0tdi is a great match to the A6

I must say i too like the A5. Its a very pretty thing.

the A7 reminds me of a platypuss for some reason... looks like its dragging its arse along the road. And the high level brake light being the ENTIRE width of the back window looks ridiculous.. griswolds xmas house everytime you see braking

Really!? She's Whiskey Tango. Not my cup of tea!

The A5 is a nice motor, my Dad had one when they were first released in 08. IIRC it was the first of the Audi's to get the LED DRL's so the car used to get a lot of attention. That and his was one of the first in the UK.

Nippy enough (Petrol) the B&O speaker upgrade was fantastic and the interior is classic VAG, well put together 'niceness'

He had it for 3 years and took it on long road trips to France a few times with no problems, although towards the end of ownership, a few niggles were starting to show up. Noisy brakes that were never resolved, a dodgy boot release and an issue with one the electric windows... so nothing major.

I'd go for an A7, those things are just middle management porn haha!

No, it's just an A5 and there are loads out there.

Think there is only one Megan Fox, not that she really does anything for me.

Big car, huge doors.  Personally I don't really see the point.  I think the saloons look better and you can get the same drivetrains in those.  But that's just my opinion. :)

Doesn't look very sporty to me even though it's a coupe.

I think the Megan Fox thing sums up the A5. Sure looks great but you wouldn't want to live with it everyday.

Reckon she'd be quite needy and high maintenance!

This really illustrates for me how people see things differently. I understand all your opinions but for me I don't know how you can look at an A5 without copious amounts of drool escaping from an open jaw. I literally lust after them as much as I do say a F 355 Spyder, Ftype Jag or an AC Cobra etc. Its a good thing that we don't all like the same things it would be a boring world if we did. But mainly It will keep the price down for the A5 so I can afford one :D

I'm keeping my MK3, this is a change to the OH's Citigo ;)

I would go with the Golf R

On another note, what made you want to go from a Citigo to a A5?

The Citigo was a stopgap as there was a temp need for a small, cheap and reliable car. This has now passed, and long journeys down the A1 / M1 are requiring a diesel cruiser.

Plus shes a girl...... I've learnt not to ask for justification  :D
