What did you do to your bike today?

Featured Replies

Well yesterday I went for a ride out into Wales, stopped for something to eat and continued on to Lake Vyrnwy, it was a lovely day for a ride. It's also the furthest I've been with my other half as a pillion too, she's absolutely loving it. The VFR copes so well, I enjoy riding it more and more with every ride!

  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

Then you lot go all Freddie Mercury on me with this

and I thought I was weird for taking a fancy to a Rocket 3. You lot are off the chart weird.

Brought the Tuono home tonight.

It properly pee'd it down all the way n i didnt wear my waterproofs, so i got drenched and the bike is filthy.

But oh my god that engine is awesome! Whenever i started getting depressed with the weather, i just poked the engine n id giggle in my helmet instantly, and i havent even been anywhere near seeing what it can do yet.

Corners were steady as you go, with a brand new Dunlop Qualifier and the wet greasy roads.. but it just tips into teh corners so well. Just drops in easy as pie.

Cant wait for a good day to get this tyre scrubbed in properly and explore the engine and handling some more!

But first i must clean it...

It was horrid out today, not ideal on a new bike with new tyres!

I rode my lad's 125 to avoid getting mine wet, and almost instantly regretted leaving the house. My waterproofs aren't.

Faced with a 70-mile detour on the way home, I gave in and grabbed the Yeti instead before heading off

I think id of felt abit safer on a 125 on some bits of road haha. I couldn't get any heat into the tyres at all.. they weren't having any of it.

Dont blame you for grabbing the Yeti! My dad kept rubbing in how warm and comfy he was in his Yeti haha. He didnt feel like he was riding on a knife edge though, so thats abit more boring perhaps haha.

Do you know where about's you're going mate? :)

I live in Buxton :)

Most are stopping at the Royal Oak at Hurdlow. It won't be a massive do so should be fun. 3 days of riding round the Peak district followed by drinking real ale and talking b*****s :D Think a mixture of grumpy old men and you won't be far off!

Sounds brill!

The Royal Oak at Hurdlow is very well known around here for really good food and loads of it too.

Its near enough always packed full, so booking ahead is vital if you plan to eat mate. Theyve never got any empty tables haha

Sounds about my sort of do Ade.  Just throw in some cake and it would be perfect. :D

Best colour too. SWMBO used to fall asleep on the back of mine when I had one in the 90's great bike and totally over engineered after the vf750 chocolate camshafts saga.

Thanks I'll give the lads the beads up.

That's why I dont use sports tyres. Its a catch 22. You need heat in them to generate grip in the cold and rain but you need grip to generate heat.

Sports touring much much better for all year use.

I've got sports tyres on the xr and you have to really work hard to get grip in the greasy stuff.

Blimey what's happened to this thread ? Leather chaps with Freddie bits on display.

I think all trumpf riders should be banished to the blue oyster bar immediately.

I feel sick.

Great news on the bike Oli.

Dont be a Jessie, get the waterproofs on and get riding.

So whens the meet then ?.....

What worries me is how you know so much about the said bar!  Still anyone that runs around the streets with skin tight shorts on hasn't a lot of room to talk about others.

Er, yeah  :o  Sorry about that. I'll try and keep my triple thoughts to myself. Three just isn't right. I'll stick to twins from now

Its all in the films Chris !!!!

But when the chippie or pub is about to close at least I can run to get last orders !!

I know mate yeah. I dont really want them tbh.

I dont suppose theyll last long though, so im thinking or trying the Angels when these are gone :)

Do it, that's what's going on the xr when I've junked the pirellis on there now.

I shall :). These do get hot though when it is dry n seemed okay when they were hot.

Just been for a quick run. Feck me. It shifts. Dont think this thing will take long to shred that back tyre

Stripped the rear end of to start the process of changing the chain to belt drive. Really surprised that the swing arm bolt did not give me any problem after being on for approaching 15 years since new and I have had it for 14 of those years and 43k miles.
