I have just tried to upload two photo's and did not get passed the first one as it was too big (1.7MB).

If someone could up load them for me or at least give me a "you stupid idiot" :dull: :wall:   this is how you do it. I would happily email the two pictures to you if you like.

One picture is of my bike and the other one is of my seat.

Your pictures are below Sir.

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

Looks a great ride out, top pictures.

Finished work early today, blasted down the fosse, into the cotswolds for a play then home. Cracking ride at a half decent pace. Just cannot beat biking. Was buzzing when I got home.

Today's ride was all about getting her past the 600 mile mark so I can get the first service in. The ride to Rhayader was very nice  Little traffic and what there was I got past without too much delay. The trip up to the dam was mostly single track so all slow speed look at the scenery stuff. After a stretch of my legs and a loo stop I made my way back home but traffic was quite heavy with loads of lines of cars all bunched together so very few overtake opportunities as I don't like pulling back in to a limited gap so I had a slower ride home. I'd like to do the B4518 from Rhayader up to Llanbrynmair but didn't have time today

Sounds like a nice riding area. Would be interested in going for a ride around there myself, would be a good ride.

Yeah i hate it when they bunch up together. Theres absolutely no reason for it either. Makes it a pain to make progress and for no reason at all. They gain nothing from it do they :D

There are some great biking roads in mid and north Wales, but many of the A roads have your local friendly policeman or camera van lying in wait because there's always loads of accidents as everything from Bikes to cars to lorries to tractors all have to use them. Because there's no duel carriageways to speak of accident rates are high, if it's not bikers coming off (especially this time of year) you get head ons too which never have a good outcome so I tend to stick to the speed limits or there abouts. The B4391 to Bala is another and you can do a loop via the A4212 B4391 to Festiniog then back down the A470 and pick the A494 and go back to Bala. You're spolit for choice really.

Yes I thought about Devils bridge today but after pottering up to Clearwen I didn't have time as I didn't set out until just before noon and had to be back by 5ish.

I'm from Kidderminster so tend to ride west when I can either via Leominster, Knighton or Newtown

Nice bike and a nice place!

Reminded me of Derwent Reservoir around here.

Been on the other side of that dam when the water was coming over the top (overflows) quite impressive it is.

I bet it is. Id like to see that tbh!

They did the bouncing bomb testing there didnt they. For the Dam Busters.

I have several photo's of the water going through the overflow.

Know that area very well, my old advanced instructor was from kiddy and that's exactly where we went to play.

Truly stunning !

I'm in exactly the same boat racking up first service mileage, boxed off another 100 after work, great blast.

Took it up to 115 . .  :D

I've clocked up just over the 600 now so booked in next week, then I guess it'll be a case of slowly working up to full throttle/revs over the next 400 miles or so as it only says to keep below 5k for the 1st 600 miles in my owners handbook

This weekend I won't be riding the bike but instead stripping out the rectifier and replacing with a mosfet rectifier along with improving the wiring on the charging system. What could possibly go wrong

I managed to whack on the remaining miles this week, first service tomorrow. Be good to get that out of the way.

I dont keep the revs too low, I keep the gearbox moving with lots of changes, reasonable amount of throttle but no labouring or too many full throttle high hear accels. If you take it too steady you run the tea risk of the engine becoming an oil burner.

My thoughts too on the service, next week can't come quick enough. Keeping to 5k has been a bit of a pain especially when overtaking but ho hum. I've purposely kept off all dual carriageways and motorways and headed west so I could vary the speed and change gears a lot and will build her up to full steam over the next few hundred miles before I go up to Scotland in a few weeks time.

It's not all bad mate.

Try running a 70bhp hatchback. It's steady enough when it is run in haha.

Wish t was as straight forward as red to red , yellow to yellow........

Mine had thyristor rectifier which has developed a knack of cooking batteries. Rather than put a like for like in I've gone for the MOSFET type which runs cooler with more consist voltage output. Problem being totally different connectors so need to cut out and rebuild that part of the wiring loom.

Youll be fine mate. Just give it a good bit of thinking about. Put it down on paper what you're going to do, then triple check then.

Then actually do it. N you'll be fine :D

Job done. Constant 14.3V at the battery with the engine running regardless of what throttle is applied compared to old unit which would give out up to 18.6V when tested . Poor battery never stood a chance but at least it didn't catch fire.

Happy days. Well done!

Service done, all tickets boo and didn't cost me a penny :-)

There was an s1000rr sp4 loaded with carbon in the showroom. Yours for £22k lol

Chris, how about that for the play toy ?!!!

Put 170 mile on the clock doing the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance charity ride.  Frosty start when I set off at 7.15 this morning but a bacon buttie and a brew at the meeting point soon warmed me up (well that and heated grips!)

About 150 turned out and paid a tenner to ride.  We were helped by the Sherwood Chapter of the Harley Davidson club who along with a handfull of us RATS did the marshalling.  Very good day and so pleased to have been involved in the event which was the first in our area and hopefully to be followed in the years to come.

When we arrived back at the starting point the Air Ambulance flew onto the car park so everyone could have a look at it as a thank you gesture.

Great day (tiring) and a great atmosphere even if some motorists were a little put out by the stream of bikes.

Oh and as regards the toy Mad I think it will be a Daytona and have a couple to see this week including the one at Chesterfield.  Watch this space.
