whats up with people????

Featured Replies

I finally got my 55 plate Fabia VRS last Friday. Black Magic - no mods. I bloody love this car - very happy with performance and economy. But in the first 24 hours of having the car I have encountered 4 pri@ks. No. 1 - On friday night (100 miles on clock) I was driving up the M67 at about 11:00 pm. On the inside lane is a chaved up 306 - similar to the one i traded in to get my fab - but mine was standard. Anyway, he is sat doing 60 on the inside lane, im doing a nice easy 80 mph. I indicate, pull out and overtake, and then curtiousley indicate and pull back into the inside lane. ***** 1 decides this is unacceptable and floors his car to over take me - 'fine' i think, leave him an his peanut brain to it. But then he pulls back in front of me and slows down!!! By the end of the motorway im back in front and he is struggling to get past me - then tries to overtake and cut me up. He finally gets so mad that he pulls out into oncoming traffic to overtake - what a nob.

OK - now onto ***** 2. After work on Saturday night i was driving home - on a nice empty B road. All of a sudden i catch up to a Corsa driving at 40 MPH. No problem, i slow down and wait until it is clear to overtake. once safe, i indicate, pull out and begin to overtake. The corsa ***** decides this isn't gonna happen and floors his car - by the time i overtake him, he is doing over 70 mph. I overtake without problem, and obviosuley anoyed that he had been overtaken, he puts his front fogs on, main beams on and tail gtes me all the way home - what a *****.

I've driven my last car. a 306 for more than 12 months and never had this. Not sure what it is about my fabia, but people seem to get really ****ed when u over take - I dont get it.

Any thoughts......

Will

P.S. I missed out ***** 3 and 4 cos im sick of typing, lol

I've had the same from time to time. Don't worry it seems only to happen in bursts. You can't make sense of irrational people. The Fabia vRS sometimes seems to be a red rag to thick people, so i take it as flattery.

Yesterday I went to York to have my leather fitted and I could not believe the amount of tail gaitors on the motorways. I had to laugh though when a rover MG 75 thingy come screaming up behind me about an inch from my bumper so I decided to floor it and left him for dead in a huge cloud of smoke. He didnt tail me again!

Remove the vRS badge. Job done. Seriously, it helps.

There are a lot of peeps about that can't hack it being overtaken by a diesel of any description, let alone one that screams past and makes them look like muppets, effortlessly.

Debadged it seemed to attract a lot less of this type of behaviour.

Wouldnt loose much sleep over it though, if someone really feels the need to cut me up dangerously I will probably end up being more aggressive then is good for me (or the person in the other vehicle). Had a moment with a female Merc driver - ear ache from SWMBO but the Merc lass was gutted... Not proud of that really but it seems it's sometimes the only way :(

Debadge it & remap it! :D

That really confuses 'em!!

It's a Fabia Phobia - It happens.

Debadge it & remap it! :D
I can't fault those recommendations.

Yep, i vote for remap and debadge. You wont have any more problems ;)

Its the Skoda badge some people just cant see past it, I think its kinda funny when you see there faces as you pass them :)

Its even more fun when they get blown away by a skoda with L plates

That sounds about right. I'd never forget the look on a Triumph Stag owners face when we passed him on the A140 in what was then our new Estelle 120LSE demonstrator (all lettered up), we ended up overtaking him three times in total. Judging by the smoke out of his exhaust he must have nearly broken that not so lovely V8 engine.

Y'know...amongst all this talk of speed, I managed 47.8mpg on the way home today. Was quietly impressed.

;)

Standard black 55. Nice, aren't they?

I think he hit the reply button on your post but it was just intended as a reply to the original post. Wasn't directed at you regarding the comment about remap and debagde.

I agree with the others about the badge - the amount of muppets i had tailgating me when the badge was on was incredible. Debadged it, and not one muppet tailgated me ever again.

Oddly enough I havent debadged my Golf GTI, and yet its quite rare i get many knackers tailgating me in that... except when the car is actually knackered, and then i am not capable of burning them off.

I had a vrs and was proud of it and wouldn`t take the badges off,let them see what the skodies can do and just ignore them and carry on driving as you do, at the end of it they are more ****ed off cause you didn`t act like a complete **** like them. not to mention its a tad dangerous. you can always give them a toot of your horn when they are on the hard shoulder with a copper as you pass.

Funny you say that my wife just passed her test so I pinched her P plates just to have a bit of fun, the ammount of people that tried to put their foot down to get round me even on a 30 road was amazing, even more funny when I put down mine and left them stuck on the wrong side of the road :)

Its not that I wasn't proud of the car when I owned it, I was just getting sick of muppets who would drive 6 inches off my bumper every day and nearly ended up taking me out in the process.

I think they need to make the badge bigger, people only drive that close to read the badge
