Plastic rear arches

Featured Replies

A warning to anyone who hasn't done this, you should install plastic rear arches asap as tonight I discovered a stone had punched a hole straight through the rear wheel arch large enough to stick a finger through, this is now caused me grieve as I have to try and get this fixed, if anyone is considering buying the plastic wheel arches, do it! It could end up saving you money!

Wow, that could be really dangerous, hope no one was hurt.

Was considering doing this now it's on the must list.

Should take it back to skoda, they might fix this.

How much do the arches cost?

There's a guide with pricing in the Citigo technical section

Doing this tomorrow as it's still in warranty

So its true, not only are the red ones slower but the colour actually weakens the metal as well.

Some stone that must of been to go through thick steel [emoji15]

If the object did that to the wheel arch I dread to think what it would have done to the plastic liner. Not that I disagree with fitting them. What speed were you doing when it happened?

It might gone through the plastic and just dented the metal it they were fitted. Gone through like a bullet than a stone .

It is unknown when this occurred, david heard no obvious noises recently, and there was nothing obvious in the void behind the rear trim panel to explain what hit it. It was only discovered by chance when this rear panel was removed by us. However, I did not notice that there was a hole there when I fitted the lowering springs, a couple of months ago.I

Where exactly is it on the arch? Got a less close up of it?

Almost on the highest point of the arch, say 11 o clock if looking at the nearside rear wheel

Flippin heck! That has hit at some force to go through the arch; I doubt plastic liners would have prevented that; surely the offending item should have still been in the car?

I reckon Updown did it when he was fitting your springs! :-)

That really does not look like stone damage. Looks like something metal punched through. Any marks on the plastic panel that is above it.

Whatever did hit it has gone into the void..

Plastic liners might not have prevented it but it also might have prevented there being a massive hole punched in the car

Couldn't see anything, it's weird because I haven't heard anything rattling around in the car at all

To my untutored eye that hole looks as if it was punctured by something being forced through the steel, e.g. if the car was dropped onto a sharp object. If you have had work done on that area of the car which involved the car being jacked up I would investigate that. Dennis.

Any work carried out with the car on a jack in the last few months was done by Updown, on a axle stand with myself present the whole time so we know it isn't this, also looking at the way the metal as been in a way, peeled outwards it does seem something has come through at a force at an angle and not directly shot straight up into the wheel arch

And I thought Dorset was a safe place to live! I'm going to Poole on Monday so I think I'll take my hard hat. :giggle:

In the circumstances I thought I might need a bit more protection than afforded by the Mii so I'll be using the Yeti. It's only a flying visit between 11am and 3pm so maybe we'll escape unscathed. :giggle:
