OK so I know everyone is talking modifications, remaps and the ultimate performance, but today for the first time I 'launched' my standard, stock Superb 280 and was pleasantly surprised. Absolutely no drama, no wheelspin and a recorded time of 4.96 for a 0-60 mph

Did someone have already a feedback for the Revo stage 1 soft for 280hp with continental turbo?

As far as I can see they recently released a software for our engines - https://www.onlyrevo.com/product-details/performance-pack/mqb-20tsi-ea888-evo-high-output-performance-pack

I am pretty sure when I checked last time in January there were no signs. There is a massive upgrade reported from revo (and other tuners also) even for only a stage 1 and no hardware needed.

I have a Revo Stage 1 with the std Turbo. +80bhp. Installed a couple of years ago by a local Revo & VAG specialist. The acceleration in Sport mode is almost savage. Even D mode it is very quick for everyday driving.

I also have a Race Chip XLR Throttle pedal fitted which was swapped to my Superb from my wife's Karoq when we moved it on. This takes out the slight hesitation on the DSG & TBH in anything more than normal mode (on the XLR) & the response is almost undrivable. Normal setting on the XLR is fine & overall the car is plenty quick enough for me.

As far as I read - there are significant differences with the old 2.0TSI with 280hp first, 272hp and the latests one is again 280hp like mine. It looks like the turbo is new from Continental with some modern technology called Raax. Also the input fuel from injector is with 350bar compared to the 'old' ones of 200bar. And some other peripheral stuff...

So I am curious more about if there is someone with the latests EA888 Gen 4 evo engines and tune from Revit or other reliable companies?

Approaching 4k km, I must say I am very happy, car is brilliant and a very relaxing place to be, when you can relax ... 🙂 

Is also economical when light on the throttle, but it comes difficult as going fast(er) seems natural to do ... oh well, those are problems! 🤭

Still getting the hang of it, for sure couple things I am having trouble adapting to, one is the logic of the DSG, in all modes is slow and goes as soon as possible to the high gears, in sport keeps them hanging which also makes it bothersome.

It certainly encourages to drive sedately ... which when you do is great and all sleeps!

 

Same applies - and more - to the skinny pedal, the feedback/control is horrible. Not only laggy, but also like ... dumb. Now I understand the posts talking about a pedal box, which I think will come soon as I really prefer a more responsive throttle, here it passes from "let's all sleep" to "wild ride" in no time ... and obviously the engine roars and roars, DSG drops couple gears, car lurches forward unsettling all the body, and so on ... I wonder how Skoda tested this and determined it was reasonable and satisfying ...

Will look into the available options, which I guess is Germans DTE or Racechip. Considering the future has a Stage I engine tune, maybe is preferable a bundle, or they are totally independent systems?

Do the Stage 1 remap first & then see if you need the pedal box. I also seem to remember that there is an "Audi Throttle" setting buried in the cars software somewhere but that is going to need VCDS or similar to access it. I have a Race Chip XLR fitted to mine set to Normal  mode because anything else is too aggressive.

I think that’s because of the +80bhp you have under your right foot, mate! I’ve had the XLR set to R+ for a couple of years now (I only have +50bhp) and you do adjust to the performance improvement very quickly. On the other hand, Sport mode on the car with R+ is completely nuts and I’ve rarely used it. And of course the complete lack of throttle lag with the XLR, including in Normal mode, is brilliant.

I drive mine in Sport mode about 30% of the time and you are right, with the XLR in R or R+ mode & Sport selected on the DSG, forward progress is fairly savage. I would call it "Hooligan mode"!! So my XLR stays in N mode.

I took the XLR off of my my wife's old Karoq 1.5 DSG when we traded it in for her current EV & fitted it to my Superb to see if it would sharpen up the D mode throttle response which, even with the stage 1 Revo remap, was still a bit hesitant off the line. It works quite well. I was thinking about getting the DSG re-mapped as well but I think that might be a step too far.

I dropped a friend off at the local train station in the Superb the other day & he was astonished at the effortless acceleration compared to his 2.2 Diesel Mondeo Vignale - which he has had chipped as well. Think he was getting around 245bhp & silly torque numbers. 

 

The Superb 280 Estate really is a car that I would find very hard to part with because there's not much else out their that comes anywhere close to it for performance, space, comfort or for similar money.
