Maybe for some, I was on that well known carpark called the M25 watching my remaining mileage in the tank ticking down when I wasn't going anywhere :( at least I was in luxury surroundings :)

Golden Rule, never join the M25 without filling-up 1st!

i remember when it was quiet, & you could drive around the circle in 2 hours, oh for the good old days, when Walthamstow Avenue (AKA The North Circular) has but

3 lanes & 2-way traffic.............

I had plenty of fuel, it was the vehicle range I was watching drop down as I crawled in the traffic, I was leaving the M25 at Junction 22 anyway where there is a Sainsbury's Superstore with a filling Station with fuel at Supermarket prices. Always worth remembering, if you need fuel, just leave at Junction 22 and follow the signs to the Superstore :)

I've never been in the 'Billet, but I used to walk past it on my way home from the McEntee School in Billet Road...

Jct. 22, that's the exit for St. Albans? If so, I've used that Sainsburys.

Happy with your new wheels?

I went to Cann Hall and Tom Hood Schools in Leytonstone  :)

Yes, I'm loving the car, still haven't done 1k miles yet although I've a couple of trips to Gatwick coming up next month to help me on my way ;)

Thanks Derv, for the experience comparing Econ with Normal. I am trying each combination of Mode and journey type to seek out the best combination for driving and economy. I find Hypermileing a bit of fun as well as helping the wallet.  I may be OAP, but I had a life in the past in Essex, back in the days (70's) when White Mini-Coopers and Zephyr estates were 'looking after' the A12 and A127.

Once fully run in I'll compare the 95 or 98 ron experience as I have a motorway run to London every other week - I agree that keeping to speed limits is the best aid to mpg - however I bought this car for leisure, pleasure and fun and factored in the mpg change from my Superb II, 2.0 170 PS Estate (53 mpg overall) - just means fewer holidays.

Just heard from SKODA Customer Service, as I queried whether I had to have the Sunroof Convenience setting recall done, and would it affect my Warranty. As expected , they rightly say its my responsibility and their Tech Team strongly advise it is done as they see it as a safety issue. Interested to hear any other views - apparently 355 cars affected in UK.

Bring back good old 4 star I say!!

Also, its quite noticeable that a fair few of the forum members here are of a certain age (me included) is this possibly because they appreciate a good car, while I suspect a lot of younger people wouldn't touch the Superb with a barge pole as its only a crappy Skoda (badge snobs etc).....their loss!

I may be wrong and have no intention of putting anyones back up!!

I'm fairly young. 25+

(38 cough cough)

I have a huge interest in cars. Been racing cars for a while. Owned a drift car that I spent a lot of time on the track with. A Volvo 945 completely rebuilt. Around 450 bhp at the wheel. I have had a fleet of "normal" fun cars.

Saab 9-5 aero

Bmw 528 540 545 740

Golf gti golf r32

Sierra xr4

And a bunch of other cars,

can't remember them all.

But when I now got to that point when I wanted a new car with some punch, there was only 2 choices. Audi rs6 v10. But that would of been a used car. 2009 with 80000 km.

Or my other choice was the superb 280 brand new for the same money.

I thought it was a simple choice cause I always liked skoda. It completely different for what young guys in Sweden drive. And hopefully I will love the fact it is a "q-car"

This really became a long message with no points really. To end it with some sort of advice/opinions I will newer drive a bmw again. What a piece of crap that is.

I don't suppose I count as 'young' as such any more (34 soon), but I got my first Superb (mk2) when I was 29 if that counts. A 7 series sized car with plenty of poke and refinement for about the cost of a Fiesta. No brainer!

I'm offended and my backs up... Now that's out of the way ...

For me it was another Scout and a weekend toy.... Looking at TVR's again, SLK55's, DAX Rush etc...

Then the Mrs saw the Mk 3 Scout and hated it plus I really didn't want a Derv ( sorry Derv )....

Started looking seriously at the new Superb then and im glad I did. Despite its bulk it handles well and the straight line performance is a good laugh. I wanted new and will probably keep it until it's worth nothing so depreciation doesn't factor.

I really like the red but would have loved it in a mad colour.... Bright Orange ....

Sorry........I have also gone for the same colour as you, but would have loved that purple colour available in the Czech Republic.

That's not what you said in the toilets last Friday. :(  haha I'd love to change my username, but everyone knows me as Derv now! Wouldn't mind but I can't stand the bloody things, I was just driving one at the time I joined and couldn't think of anything original so just bunged in the first thing off the top of my head. Being honest I didn't expect to stay (I was looking something up), but you're a decent lot so I never got round to leaving. :D

I agree about the colours. I'd have loved some of the colours available on the Czech configurator! Not sure my wife would have agreed, mind... I like the ASBO orange Focus ST and the Race Blue VRS but my wife thinks they're 'mid-life crisis cars in mid-life crisis colours'...

I like that metallic orange that you sometime see Lambo's using ... Wonder how much it would cost for a really good respray ..

Might have a play with Photoshop later ...

I love the bright yellow on the Czech site so I imagine Lambo orange wouldn't be far away. I hate how British cars are sold in vast arrays of drab grey, silver or dark blues/blacks. Booooring.

My old TVR was bright yellow... Great colour... Green Fly loved it ! In Green Fly season it was almost like one of those fancy paint jobs ..... Look at it one way...  Yellow.... Another Green Fly Green ...
