I'll see when my build week comes in but I would rather have it sooner than have the big screen i think.

I was peeking at a new Golf Mk 7.5 in a dealer this week & that had the new Discover Pro Nav which = the new Columbus & 'tis very nice to look at,

but not so easy to use. In a moving car you'd need a co-pilot to do all the tings that can't be accessed from the steering wheel.

MY 2018 build starts towards the end of May.

So, how long does it take to process a new car order?

I've a few car-wow quotations to consider & probably won't make any decisions 'till next week, (if then.....) so maybe 5 weeks before the MY 2018 build starts.

(Decisions as to replace the EOS with a new Golf 7.5 R hatchback, just for me, swap the old Superb for a new 280, or consider a lightly used A4 with the 252 ps petrol & 7-speed

S-Tronic (DSG) for similar money. )

Will look forward to hearing what you finally decide to do DC :)

I ordered form Ingram Skoda in Ayr.  Thats was via Car Wow.  Got £6,300 off I had the car ordered within a day.  He said he should have a build date in a couple of weeks.

How are the exhaust flaps supposed to work? When do they close? I've tried to put the car in sport/normal/eco modes and they seem to be always open (at least when car is at a standstill) ...

Have someone give the throttle pedal a decent amount of welly while you're bent down at the rear sniffing the fumes and you'll see them close.

You'll also hear them click as they open and close, which you can just as easily hear whilst stood by the driver's door pressing the throttle pedal yourself.

I don't think the mode matters, though I've only ever tried Eco once for about 30 seconds and never to be used again. (My personal opinion; anyone who buys a 280 and wants to use Eco mode has bought the wrong car)

[Info thanks to @Nick_H who brought this up early on in this thread]

I see that the popular broadcaster Chris Evans has recently taken delivery of a Sportline 280, for a nano second I thought it may be time to change to something else but even that news would not make me sell!

“Taken delivery” is surely the correct choice of words; rather than e.g. “bought and paid for”. There’s every chance it’s a freebie, I’d say.

I know a comparatively very minor (sports) ‘celebrity’ who enjoys 30% discounts on his cars – in return for being seen in the given manufacturer’s top-model cars. For someone with the profile of a Chris Evans those discounts must be nudging 100%.

Just putting such reports into context…

Doesn't he write a motor column for a Sunday Newspaper?

He did write a good review a couple of months ago and in the next weeks column said he liked it so much that he had put an order in for one, as far as I know bought and paid for.

This week he said he had taken delivery, seemed pleased with it.

He writes in the 'Mail on Sunday'

Personaly,  I cannot stand the man whether it be on the radio, TV or reading a newspaper column, but he seems to know a good car when he sees one:)

got my eye out for a 280 - but they seem hard to come by in any reasonable spec apart from ordering new.

You can only buy the 280 at SE L spec and above so any car should have pretty decent spec as standard.

Hy guys,

Does anyone know if there is launch control in this car?

I tried the s mode, esc off, foot on brake, full gas, then let go of the brake, but nothing really happened. Also when I do this, the rpm doesn't go up to 3800, only to 1200...

This is a Sportline 280le btw.

Thanks!

Adam

Strange, I have 280 L&K and Launch Control works as described.

Today i tested 2.0 TDI 140KW Kodiaq and there it worked in same way.
Only in Kodiaq i don't remember sign "Launch Control Activated..." on maxi-dot.

Can you please tell me exactly how does it work?

Auto Trader have 20 280's for sale, ranging from £25K to £33.5K, & you could get a new L&K for £32K'ish from on.e of Carwow's dealers.

Seems reasonable to me for new/ newish cars.

Found the problem for the launch control. ESC shouldn't be off, instead ESC Spor-mod from the menu. Then hard brake, ful, gas and let it go. Holly cow how fast this is!!!

If you press and hold the ESC button for ~10 seconds it switches to sport mode also.

Does anyone know if it is possible to display oil temperature? Haven't found it in any of the menus.

Just ordered my 280 Estate sportline flavour in white with reverse camera, virtual foot lever for boot and lane assist - excited ! I do about 20k miles a year can't wait

In the MFD - Driving Data. Scroll through the speedo, consumption, etc, and you'll come across Oil Temperature.

You might need to enable the oil temperature display first by selecting it in CAR > Settings > Instrument Cluster as mine wasn't enabled from the factory so it wouldn't display in the MFD.

Yes, needed to do this... thanks :)

only 2 estates, both l and k which is fine apart from the brown leather, would ideally like a sportline with some of the extras.

seems best to wait or investigate new - granted carwow quotes for the spec I am after at 34k seems pretty good.  considering the used estates with circa 6k miles are about 28-9k before haggling.
