Convert Fabia 1.4 v8 MPI to 1.4 v16

Featured Replies

Hi There,

After research I found that I can convert my Fabia 1.4 MPI v8 to 16v

Change The Engine and ECU and Gearbox (Automatic) it fit with the same studs.

But is that possible to change all The electronic parts with new ECU,  Should i change the dashboard ?

Its possible to convert the car, 1.4 v16 is better than v8 ? it dose not have the same problems with overheating and thermostat and some electronics such as center-lock .. etc ?

Cheers,

Osama

1.4 8v doesn't have an overheating issue, it might be something wrong with your car (bad water pump, stuck radiator etc). I've driven my car (1.4 8v) at temps -30 - +40 and it never had a problem. Fully loaded (with 4 passengers and a full boot), floored on the motorway or stuck at rush hour in a crowded city, the temp needle never moved from it's vertical position. It's a slow car, designed for B roads mostly, with a flawless gearbox, but it's built as a tank IMHO. It can do 100mph, but it needs some open road.

A different engine will need a gearbox, driveshafts, intake and exhaust manifolds, ecu, immo (possibly the dashboard as well). You will need to service that engine as well, because it's not new. It will need a timing belt replacement, new water pump and so on. I'd say it's better to repair your car and use as is it or sell it and buy another one.

Lots of wiring changes required too.

Horrible, very time-consuming job I should think.

Don't build what you can buy.

Well, it a great engine but in the middle east we can not go to VW service center because it very very expensive and other local mechanics dose not have enough experience in VW (Skoda)  engines specially v8 because the most of the cars there are KIA, Honda,,,, Asian cars, and always get problems in cooling system.

but in general its a great engine with good performance and i love it :D

When i travel to north in open roads I get 140 KM/h quickly its powerful and everytime i beat the Honda 1.5 - 1.6 and Nissan  and Toyota with the same engines between 1.5 - 1.7 and im so proud :P
