fck it just bought a plug and play ECU with immo deleted ....

There might be another way, but I cannot confirm it. Some say that leaving the key into ignition on the 2nd position (all the dash lights on) for 30 minutes or so might disable the immo and it should allow you to start the engine. Just hope the battery will not die in that time and you should be good to go to Skoda.

Those ebay immo defeat boxes should be made illegal, one reason why you should seriously consider altering the OBD port on your car to a non standard configuration so these boxes do not work and saving your car from being stolen.

I agree, but sometimes they might be usefull. Who is selling them or how they can be bought is a different story though. Is your IC working ok ? Do all the dials and lights work as they should be? I'm always seing the immo light (they key thing) when I'm starting my engine and after this everything is fine. Check the IC harness...maybe there is moisture. Have you checked the ignition barell ?

Never heard of them boxes personally. I want one now though!

Added to notes, might need it one day!

Same as here. I'm going to a locksmith tomorrow and get my immo code, you never know ... I really wouldn't enjoy being on vacation 500miles away from home, drop my keys, destroy the responder and then having to get the car towed back home.

So this morning ive been though all the paperwork that came with the car...

There are a few 4 digit numbers about :

there is a 4 digit number written under the "Vehicle Identification No"

there is also a 4 digit number referred too a  FSM number.

Are any of there likely to be the number i need?

It should be a 5 digits pin...Have you tried leaving the key into ignition on the 2nd position for 30 minutes ?

ohh..

10mins left of the key fix and we will see !

nope didnt work :( :( was in for 40mins just  in case

I'm curious now, I will get home and use one of the spare keys that doesn't have a transponder in it.

The immo PIN used to be supplied on a plastic tag when the car was new. I am sure it was only 4 digits on the MK1 Fabia and MK1 Octavia. The MK2 all use more digits.

The emergency start procedure is below for a MK1 Octy, copied from another thread here.

EMERGENCY START
1. Switch IGNITION ON and turn the clock set button to the right and at
the same time press and hold the trip reset button for 1 second.
2. 0000 appears on the display, press the trip button to input the first
digit of the pin code. Turn the clock set button to the right to move to
the next digit. Repeat for all 4 digits.
3. Then with the correct pin code entered turn the clock set button to
the right and press the trip reset button for 1 second.
4. The Immobiliser light will stay on, and the car can run for 45 minutes

But i keep saying this, im sure that the problem is with ECU > dash, not key. Both keys worked fine, car has never had a immo error, or ever failed to start. This has all happened after i disconnected the ECU.

 - I have tried 2x keys

 - I have tried disconnected negative for 30mins

 - I have tried putting positive and negative together for 30mins

 - I have tired key in ignition on second turn for 40 mins

 - I have tried 1 key in ignition, one in door to set key

Ive just phoned Skoda at Preston, and he said all the above wont work. I will need to get it recovered to there ... But i will try that ebay special first :p

Oh and i asked about the 4/5 pin that came with the car, he said you cant do it via the dash on a Fabia.

It's a SKC code and is 4 digits, I know because I have mine, it's still on the tag that came with the spare key.

As for the faults, here's what I think has happend.

It all worked fine.

You unplugged the ecu which has then made the dash loose your immobiliser code.

So obviously it worked fine before you broke it :D

However!!! I've never known that to happen, I've unplugged mine before and nothing happened.

Just too add, that i stuck the standard map onto the car the day before i pulled the ECU ... Probably cocked this up even more ??

Waiting for the Ebay jobby to arrive then its going to Skoda, probably be ripped off with a. diagnostic  = £80 + "need a new ECU"  = £200, ohh "need a new dash" then a new diagnostic = £80 .. fun times ahead im guessing ..

Doesn't sound like key coding to me, hence the lack of immobiliser light. It sounds like the engine ECU to dash matching has dropped.

So do you think the eBay gadget won't work to fix his?

Yes i think thats it... but how to fix it is the million dollar question :P

?

If its a diesel you can switch the immobiliser off in the ecu with some software.no need to open it up and mess inside it.

You should have the immobiliser light flashing tho at the moment I think if it's dropped comms?

So i guess i can do this :

Determining IMMO-ID & VIN (ECU)

[select]

[01 - Engine]

Look at the first "Extra" field. The first 17-digit string is the VIN. The second 14-digit string in the Immo-ID.

[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

---OR---

[select]

[01 - Engine]

[Meas. Blocks - 08]

Select Block 081.

[Go!]

The first 17-digit string is the VIN. The second 14-digit string in the Immo-ID..

[Done, Go Back]

[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

Determining IMMO-ID & VIN (Instrument Cluster)

[select]

[17 - Instruments]

Look at the first "Extra" field. The first 17-digit string is the VIN. The second 14-digit string in the Immo-ID.

[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

---OR---

[select]

[17 - Instruments]

[Meas. Blocks - 08]

Select Block 081.

[Go!]

The first 17-digit string is the VIN. The second 14-digit string in the Immo-ID..

[Done, Go Back]

[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

To actually determine if this is the issue.

But im unsure if there is a fix here, as im guessing your saying it should be treated as a new instrument cluster fit.

In which case this is not possible:

- All relevant coding and adaptation values have been transferred from the OLD (ORIGINAL) cluster to the REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) cluster.

No flashing/ no light. I think the posts stating the cluster has lost immo code is the best bet
