Lamentably crap picture, but here's my Race Blue L&K 2.0 TSi.

Not necessarily a complete stranger to VAG cars, but this is the first Skoda I've ever owned. Once drove my uncle's Estelle way back in the day, but things have moved on a bit since then :D

Fabulous colour that.

First post I've seen from Bahrain, are you in Manama?

Living in Saar  - West side, close to the causeway, as I work in Saudi. Not that Bahrain is particularly big, but saving 15 to 20 minutes each way on the commute while still living on the more comfortable side of the "bridge" is a good enough reason for me to stay over this way.

Skoda doesn't seem to have much of a following here yet. The car does get a surprising amount of attention however, mainly from people who are curious as to what it is.

Hi mate how did you get the chrome bits in on the doors and the tail lights! Amazing!

Thanks.

I got a specific chrome door trim edge, with a specific L-shape lip. i got it from AliExpress.  its flexible plastic, that comes in different sizes.  i got the 9mm thick, 10m version.

it comes with double sided tape.  so i cut to measure, n then stuck it on.

i'm impressed at how long, and well its lasted.  survived high pressure washes, high speeds, sunlight, and rain.

its ridiculous how much a small piece of OEM chrome/black strip costs!!

my version looks almost identical, costs a 10th of the OEM bits, and can b easily fixed/replaced.

Very lovely!

mind sharing which specific chrome trim with the L shape lip you got on AliExpress? The ones I found so far are u shaped tight fitting ones

OEM is expensive, right, but looks better.
And the facelift lights are 100% LED and not, as with the vFL, with incandescent lamps. Dynamic blinker is also nicer.
But everyone has to know it himself. I prefer the FL OEM look.

Agreed - 100% OEM is always best, and is always my preference.  Have a look at all the other retrofits I've carried out.

I have a pre-facelift, so initially I planned to retrofit the chrome strips from facelift taillights.  However it turns out u can't do just that, and will need new facelift taillights (both inner & outer), new boot strip, new RVC, new boot button and change the wiring harness.

Total cost will b well in excess of $1000AUD!!!

No thanks.

My craving for the facelift chrome strips is not worth that much. :tongueout:

I'm happy with my LED pre-facelift taillights with my improvised chrome strip that cost me $10.

Even the Skoda Technicians here at the service centre were stumped at the finish and quality of it.  They were initially confused given mine is a pre-facelift.

It's not for everyone.

It's an alternative option.

While it's cheap, it certainly doesn't look it.

....and added bonus - the same chrome strip roll can b used on the lower door guards, just like factory.  Again at a fraction of OEM price.

Nein danke.

Yes, everyone has to decide for themselves what it is worth to them.

I converted to facelift lights myself, so I know the effort and the costs.

I also retrofitted the chrome strips on my L&K.

These China adhesive strips are good, but look like they were stuck on the door.

OEM this is let into the bar so that the edge is flush with the chrome bar.
I like it better.

In the end, it's always a question of money.
And for others, it's nice to see that things are also different from OEMs.

KW V2 with dcc deactivation.

-30mm on rear

-35mm on front

great driving improvement and now it looks much better.

thanks for your recommendation

I have fitted the chrome strips and they look perfect!

they have some problem with remaining stick onto the body though

so may I ask did you apply glue to the surface for it to stick hard?

@Rantzzz- that has come out very nicely on urs 👍

u have a darker color compared to mine, so it has a nice contrast, whereas mine is subtle against the grey. 🙂

no no, don't use any additional glue, at least I didn't have to.

wat I did prior to fitting it was, after measuring & cutting each piece, I then laid it out flat, overnight, on a table's edge, with masking tape to hold it down.

this helped with removing the bends/tension in the chrome edge.span widget

Blimey, how I hate reading this thread at the moment.

This is a Superb Mk3 picture thread, isn't it? Or is it slowly changing into a 'rim thread'? 😜

do you know the weight of each rim ?  looks like an ET 35?    do the tyres hit your fender on a full load ?

Some days, I absolutly love the velvet red. But on some other days, I just wish I got a black car at the beginning.

Don't regret your choice. Black is 'common', whereas red si so rare! ;)

Absolutely this.  My L&K Estate was corrida red - my new one (L&K hatch I'm still waiting for!) is velvet red.  Chose it because at the time, I hadn't seen any in that colour in my area.
