Fabia 2003 Battery Light

Featured Replies

Hi There,

Kindly, I want to ask about the battery light every morning when I start engine the RPM is Low with a lot of vibration and Battery Light is On, When i push to pedal its gone !!

its the same problem that i had a lot if vibration with low RPM and battery light or its a separate problems,

Not that: I don't have VCDS because my operating system is Linux so, i can not using it.

Cheers,

Osama

The "battery light" is a voltage indicator, which goes out when the alternator output is above 12V, flickers when it's around 12V and is on steady when below 12V. The alternator output itself varies a bit with engine revs, so it may be that the low idle is causing your warning light.

Why don't you reset the ECU, it may resolve your problem.

Switch off ALL electrics, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes, re-connect, do not touch any pedals or switch on any electrics, start up and leave to idle for 30 minutes.

Well, Thank you :) i'll try

Suspect the brush pack may be worn, you can replace it yourself quite cheaply, much cheaper than a new alternator.

I had this problem I think.

In my case at least, the alternator did not initially charge on starting the car and then kicked in once the revs rose a bit. On occasion if we didnt rev the engine much, it was possible to drive until you flatten the battery altogether - the power steering goes first of course.

This is a well known symptom of a frequent problem.

There are two low current wires that run from alternator across the front of the engine bay, passing through a plug more or less under the battery. These wires frequently break which leads to different outcomes, depending on which has broken. Easy enough to bypass the plug or indeed the whole loom back to the bulkhead, if necessary.
