Nice! You know who your friends are.... Anyway, I don't have the right coloured seats for that activity, do I?? ;) ;)

  • The Museum opens at 10.00 in winter, which fits in quite nicely with me reading the Sunday Times in bed with a cup of tea then taking a leisurely drive across from St Neots(ish). Sounds good. Anyone

Isn't the name a mipsprint?

Funnily enough, I couldn't find "mipsprint" in the dictionary. Is that a misprint? ;)

Of course it is - to help add to the general off-topicness (not in the dictionary either) of this thread! :D

Ahh, but you see, Denis, there is an ulterior motive - it keeps bumping the thread so that everyone is reminded of the date. Honest! :D

So umm, what are we talking about!

Des

Hello again, Des! You seem to be doing quite a bit of sniffing around this thread. Thinking of coming, or just checking to see whether anyone is talking about you here? If you do decide to come, there's a fair chance of being offered a cup of hot chocolate and the opportunity to sit out of the rain under the rear door of an Estate (if the weather is inclement).

If anyone coming along to the meet works for a printers, could they bring along a pantone 'colour book' thing, so we can determine what colour Denis' 4x4 really is?

Failing that, a Dulux colour leaflet might well do

Is that cup of hot chocolate to drink or to wear? ;)

Denis,

That's a very gracious and tempting offer just don't know about the hot chocolate though. ;)

I'll bring you a can of pop if you like, Des

(Although I reserve the right to shake it up first....)

:D

Shouldn't you be offering this to Jon first, he likes things that go pop etc.

Sorry m8 could not resist. ;)

Well I think you're all being perfectly beastly to Aunty Desmond. If a squeaks when he walks dee-dar Yorkshireman and a glow in the dark Geordie-ish whatever you call people from Hartlepool are welcome then surely we should open our arms to the Essex contingent and whatever they're driving this week.

Locking wheelnuts...check...

And what's wrong with being from Essex? :D
From my point of view' date=' they're both vRSs, but some other members may take a slightly different stance :D :D

Should be good fun, and at least under cover if it is raining p*ssistently.

I reckon we could end up with more than the national meet at this rate, and that was a cracking weekend.

No-one has mentioned a time yet - I guess we should set this based on the time it will take for the furthest traveller to get there. LadyLoki has to get from Croydon to Duxford in her trusty Metro - anyone else coming from further away?[/quote']

I'm coming from Leatherhead. SWMBO wants to be dropped off in Cambridge (not keen on looking at planes or mad car drivers)

Rich,

WTF are you on about, "If a squeaks when he walks dee-dar Yorkshireman". You've been on the whacky baccy again haven't you.

Meet at Stanstead and converge?

Meet at Stanstead and converge?
Have you got a ride sorted now, Jon? Or are you flying in? :)

I'm going straight to Duxford to enjoy the car park there... Stansted is a bit out of the way for the route I'll take :)

Any time in particular at Stanstead (services I take it).

Is it too late to join in the fun, our plans for the 23rd have changed so we can make it now :bouncer:

Andy

Nope Andy, all welcome - pop over to the Activity Poll thread and let us know what you want to do. If we get 20 for the museum we'll get a discount!

I think 20 should be quite easily manageable seen as a few are bringing along family too! :D

I did a quick recce of the Imperial War Museum Duxford today. To get there from the M11, exit at J10, following the Imperial War Museum Duxford signs. You will see a large hangar almost adjacent to the M11; the museum entrance is in the middle front of this. Assuming that you have come via the M11, or via the A505 from the Newmarket direction, you will see the car park immediately on your left from the main road which is elevated at that point. The first part of the car park is surfaced and has marked parking slots, while the area nearest to the museum entrance (Hangar 1) is gravel. When I visited at 1.00pm today the surfaced parking area was full whereas the gravel area was almost empty. I suggest that we all park up on the gravel area since it should be possible to park there as a group. Our cars will also be clearly visible from the main road regardless of colour! Reception did advise me that if the weather is wet, the gravel area can flood. If that is the case, hopefully there will not be many visitors and we can still park as a group on the surfaced area. Should the weather be really awful, there is just about enough room just inside the museum entrance area for members to wait until we have the necessary 20 for a group discount. There are 5 display hangars plus an American Air Museum and a Land warfare Hall, so there is ample to see inside in the event of bad weather.

Nice one Denis. Sounds good. I've not been there for years and it wasn't nearly as big then! Sounds like it should be an interesting day with lots of piccie opportunities! :D
