The What Car Did You Ditch For The Skud Top Ten

Featured Replies

Inspired by the Scooby to Skoda thread (http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4449) I was wondering whether we could compile a top-ten of marques most left in the lurch in favour for our beloved Skuds. Let's see which brand suffers most from Skoda's VFM...

I'll start off myself:

Dutch4x4: Subaru

Last car was a Xantia 2.0 SXi - dumped because it was on its last legs (was taken to dealer for part-x on the back of a recovery truck in fact)

Car I replaced with my Tavia was a Rover 620TI

Darren

Vectra 2.5V6 Estate,

Fair car, but I always change at 100,000 miles !!

The Dealership support was Pants though !! this stopped me buying a Zafira GSI (OPC in

Saab 9-5 - nice car, only got rid because of the mpg (35 at best) now getting 55 - 60 mpg from my Superb TDI 130PD.

Couldn't see the point of spending more on a VW or Audi if all I'm gonna do is pile the miles on it.

Vince

Vauxhall Astra 1.4 Hi-Torq. Just because it was too small, too many miles and didn't have a/c.

Rob.

Laguna 1.8... Was falling apart.

The Octy we had before replaced a VW Vento, which repaced a VW Jetta, which replaced a VW Polo.

Andy

ps..notice the pattern?

1.8 laguna , still got it gave it to the wife.

Ford Ka3.

Nothing wrong with it at all. - W reg and 25k miles - but I got a new job with a car allowance I *had* to spend

Ford Mondeo - time for a change - wanted a V6 Mondeo but couldn't find one - bought Skud on impulse.

Skoda Fabia 1.4 8v Comfort.

Nice car when it got up to speed.

Saw RS when Fabia was in for a service.

Bought it.

The RS replaced a Merc C180 , do I miss it. Not really, except the cruise control.

Clio Sport 16v

Too slow, depreciation too high, too popular with Kevs. and the dealers inability to fix simple niggly faults.

was going to get a Seat Ibiza 130. Test drove the Furby vRS the weekend it was released.. bought it the day after :)

I gave up non-car ownership to own my skud. Not bad for a first car ever methinks, maybe a bit O.T.T. :D

Pug 106. R reg. Good fun on roundabouts with lift off oversteer, but too flimsy and too slow!

Pug 205 Dturbo.

Good fun but dont mention build quality!

clk 430 pimp wagon.. should have bought a superb...

no seriously i should.. miss the auto and lec seats.. miss the tints and my old wheels would have bolted straight on.. can i tempt you on a set of 18"....

VW Polo 1.0 E. It was a good first car, but I wouldn't have another one.

I get the feeling a lot of people have gone from zero to vRS/Fabia in one step - doesn't seem like a smooth progression like I would have expected... (I include myself in that sudden step too.)

Mundano - old one used as workhorse and left in station car parks etc. Very reliable and not a bad car considering the abuse it took.

dont you miss the raw acceleration?

Citroën Xantia 2.0 Sx

Nothing wrong with it, just got bored (after 19 years of owning various Citroëns)
