Phil's Fabia 1.8t Build Thread (ex 1.2 12v)

Featured Replies

Finally after weeks of searching i have found the perfect car to start my project.
Not the car i had hoped to use, but finding a saloon within budget that wasn't a dog is quite hard.
It's a Gold 2006 1.2 12v beast with 64 bhp quite possibly perfect for me.
I will update with pictures as i move along with the build..

Current state..

  • Few parts to add to the list.. And new 'daily/drive to track day' wheels arrived. And fit :-) Then i've been to collect some of Bens parts he's no longer using on his Fabia.. Fibreglass boot,

  • All fitted, all rattles and clonks gone. This Scale suspension is the shizzle. So well made its defintly worth the money. Damping set to halfway (6 clicks out of 12) Up on the ramps stripping everyt

  • Fitted driveshafts and all bolted up. Wheels on and lowered to the floor. All intercooler pipework installed, just front bumper to chop up to fit.   Started it and it runs!!! WHOOOOOOO

Looking forward to seeing this.

Are you going for the sleeper look with wheel trims etc?

If you wanted a Saloon I have one that's had minor damage back and front you could have had for the £150 it cost me.

I was me who messaged you the other night on facebook about it, by the time i had sorted it and VIC check etc and got it home it will have been above my budget really.

I should have mentioned my budget.. £1000 to get the Fabia running with the 1.8 20vt.

Once it's in and running i plan on making it a reliable 300+bhp for track days and it will still be a sleeper look.

Can't wait to get it home tonight and get started  :notme:

Ah...

Well good luck.

Will keep an eye on how you get on. :)

Mmm gold :)

another one has started   what engine code you using?

BJX initially, but i have an AUQ spare for rebuilding. So with the AUQ i will probably get a lot of goodies then drop it in at a later date.

I want it to be reliable at high power, i'm not after willy waving figures just a well setup track/road car.

i have engine mounts brackets for the AUQ for sale  ;)

Whats the difference? I'm not at that stage yet haha I need to stop buying things i don't need.

completely different all together. the golf platform brackets won't even fit between the chassis legs. Polo ones are very hard to come by as Bossfox and myself found out, unless you have a complete donor car

  • Author

are all 1.8t engine brackets not the same? on mk4 golf platform cars?

no different all together as are the engine and gearbox mounts. Mounts/ brackets are the same across a platform (for each engine type) but are not interchangeable between platforms so a golf AGU 1.8t for will fit a octy or a tt but not a ibiza or a polo unless you have the correct brackets

I've used an Ibiza FR as a donor, so for the time being i'm sorted.

Only things i know i need are fuel lines as the connectors were poor so left them in the car, and coilovers.

I'm 90% sure i have everything else to get everything in and running.

I've been pestering Trevor for a few weeks asking millions of questions :)

haha poor chap. an ibiza is the perfect car for the job as most of it if not all of it will bolt and plug straight in

Few more pictures on the Fabia. Had it running and drove it, no issues with the engine. Only fault code was missfire on cyl1. Cleared and never came back.

So won't the brackets/mounts from the Ibiza FR fit the AGU when he comes to plonk that in?

I wouldnt think the block is very different so presume so..

Few pictures of the Ibiza FR donor car. Bought it with a blown turbo.. Replaced the turbo and it ran fine.

Ibiza shell has now gone and all parts stored. Only thing left on the Ibiza was rear beam (I bought another of DanHarper) and handbrake. Everything else is in the garage ready to swap over onto the Fabia.
