Ignore me if im being stupid

But i thought that there were two types of Mk1 Fabia hub, vRS ones (capable of a straight 312mm swap with carriers) and the "normal" fabia ones which only go up to 256mm or what ever they are standard.

Are you using the standard Hubs or the vRS hubs?

I also believe the vRS hubs are the same as the Ibiza FR/Cupra 1.8T or 1.9TDI ones

I believe he swapped them from the Ibiza. Or yep, that would be the problem.

And yes, the Ibiza Mk4 1.8T and PD130s have the same hubs.

That looks like 288s going on :) (Don't want to quote all the pictures but you can see the smaller stuff coming off in the ones before)

This is going to bug me all weekend now :p

Forget about it till im back [emoji23]

Unless you wish to go sort it out for me..

The standard hubs have the carrier built in i assume, these have been swapped for the FR (whole subframe etc) and 288mm removed.

They look right, just about 3-4mm out. I'll just get the grinder on them unless i'm doing something stupid.

I'm notmally spot on with brakes..

Got to the bottom of it Dan.. Theyre 312mm calipers and 288mm carriers which come on some Audi TTs.

Bloody things.. So i need 312mm carriers now [emoji35]

Built up my rears, more just to tidy up the garage floor than anything..

Also removed the ARB brackets from the Fabia subframe and fitted them on the Ibiza subframe as i snapped one.. Question though. As ive had the ARB off, how do i know where it goes? Or will it centralise properly once all bolted up to struts? This ARB doesnt have them small tabs that line up the bushes. Used the smaller bushes too so its noce and tight [emoji5]️

Crack on :)

I'm trying.. Slowly [emoji12]

ARB should have collars on that sit on the outside of the bushes and keep it in place.

If these come off you get rattles, rubbing and death...

And bugger about the brakes :( May be easier just to get carriers from vwspares?

  • Author

Collars arent on the ARB.. It'll do for now.

Watchin a few brakes on ebay anyway.

Did you have a look for that coolant pipe securing thing? Its still holding me up [emoji23]

You can make some collars with some jubilees for the time being :)

Yes but no chance of finding it in my garage...

Ibiza No 3. is in there now so I'll have another one soon.

All this time ive been waiting on the coolant pipes then the collar. Went to TPS and ordered one, picked it up today.. £1.48. Dropped a ****** there lol.

Ecu?

Excellent progress so far :)

Either one of the ECU plugs or the ABS pump. Don't think anything else in the bay has that kind of connector with the pull out locking thingy.

Ecu and ABS both plugged in. Whats the 'other ecu' [emoji23][emoji23]

Ive not raided my pile of stuff but cant remember taking it off. Bit seen as i didnt label it, it must be obvious [emoji85]
