I built this garage so i can get a car in, open the doors and still have room. Internally Its just over 3.5m wide and probably 6m long. Plenty of room [emoji12]

Nice garage.

Good call on the Ibiza donor too, far easier way to do it.

At this rate you'll have it done by the Castle Combe day on Saturday 12th Sept.

Be good to see it there. :D

I Highly doubt it, I'm off to the 'ring that week. I don't plan on rushing through it, just a steady job. Want to clean/paint things along the way too.

Do it properly ;)

Had a spare half an hour tonight so thought i'd get the engine mount off and drain the oil. All ready for doing cambelt/full service. Going to drop the sump and have a proper clear out tomorrow after work.

Changed cambelt and AUX belt tonight. Removed the air con pump and fitted a shorter belt. The new water pump smashed when i was tightening it, so i just refitted the old one. It was nice and tight anyway. Cambelt has previously been done and pump anyway so it was no biggie leaving it. Just need new spark plugs as when i removed them to check timing they were quite bad haha.

Tomorrow night will be 'tidy the garage' night. Then monday i'll strip the Fabia down..

Didnt have time for anything after work today [emoji17]

Fortunatly had a quiet day at work, so got my ricker cover cleaned up and shot blasted. Also a spare inlet manifold, i plan on ising this one but i don't think it will fit due to the angle, the TB will basically be in the drivers headlight. We shall see..

I plan on smoothing off the rocker cover, so things i dont need will be smoothed before paint.

To save smoothing off your current rocler cover isn't it the norm to use a 1.8 20v n/a item as it's already smooth?

Just had a look and there about £50. At the min i have 3 rocker covers so not going to get one. Hood shout for the future though [emoji108]

Today didnt go as planned as it was chucking it down. Didnt want a wet car in the garage haha.

So i set about chopping the looms up to remove plugs/wires that arent needed. Wrapped them back up neatly, probably neater that they was. Tucked the injector loom under the inlet manifold.

Removed the n112, n249 and SAI stuff too so the engine looks alot cleaner.

Replaced as many clips as i could with jubilee clips, so they are easier to remove when the engine is in the car.

Then Trevor decided i needed new interior, so a quick trip up to York to swap..

Did you drop sump to clean pickup?

  • Author

Na.. It's been done. When i do another oil change ill do it again and recheck chin/pump etc. Was annoying having engine swinging around doing things.

Bit of stuff happened today. Engine, loom and everything not needed from the front removed. New subframe etc fitted and the engine bay cleaned as it was filthy. Require a few little bits which will stop me fitting the engine, things i damaged when removing the engine from the ibiza. Well i can fit engine but be a pain to refit when in the car, so they can wait.

Tomorrow i'm going to do the interior, not looking forward to the dash after the ibizas been a pain in the ass to remove.

Few pictures along the way..

Only just seen this :D

One thing I will say is the AGU engine we were going to use for the FGF Santa pod car, had a different cambelt tensioner and belt, which was wider. so to use the BJX (Ibizia FR) 1.8T Engine mount, I had to grind the mount back to clear the Cambelt and tensioner. This is obviously avoided by just using the BJX belt and tensioner.

but then i think the AGU block has a stud and nut to hold the idler or tensioner, and the BJX has a bolt.

But i dont think thats really going to be a problem for you as its clear youve made quick progress :) keep it up mate!

  • Author

Cheers mate.

Been held up by small bits that i've thrown away or no realised i need.

No rush, but i have a full day on ot tomorrow and not alot is going to get done.

Require:

Metal water pipes to the bulkhead..

Pipe to slave cylinder..

Fuel lines (all 3)..

Also need to make a blank from where i removed the SAI thing of the side of the engine.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll happily cut the fuel pipes off the octavia outside my place at each end and post to you.  I think the octavia only has 2 lines though.  What is the 3rd line for?

  • Author

My fabia has 2. Its the vent i think. I need the whole lot so no cutting [emoji23]

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Octavia is longer than fabia so thought it would need a trim to fit in a fabia anyway :D

  • Author

If all else fails i'll just run braided lines.. Then a fuel cell in the boot.
