Superb MKIII owners register

Featured Replies

I agree that ACC is a great system once it earns your trust.  I had that function on my previous car the MK3 Superb estate.  I was looking forward to having the enhanced version with the Predictive function  which readjusts the cruising speed in accordance with the speed regulations on the road and slows down for bends and approaching roundabouts.  The initial information available from Skoda stated that it would be available on the Skoda IV, but did not make clear that it requires the installation of the  Traffic Sign Recognition system.  This was a £90 option.  I am not impressed by UK Skoda, as they did not state that in any marketing information, and their UK customer services team could not even confirm that.  My local dealer were clueless.

MY SEL IV car seems to have the new A5 Camera, so I believe that TSR only requires a software upgrade.  Bearing in mind that the cost of this upgrade is £90,  less than the price of boot nets, it is very doubtful that it would also require any extra hardware.

I hope you are right about the TSR option being a software update. It's a pity about the dealers uselessness. The model used to sell cars is not ideal, as many dealers and their staff don't seem invested in the brand or interested in the product.

A well informed and engaged sales person can make the car buying experience a pleasure. A disengaged and uninformed sales person is just a waste of space. If you select the options online yourself at least the system tells you you can't have option X without choosing option Y.

I will probably never buy a car that doesn't have ACC. To me it's one of the best features on any modern car. I'm not sure Predictice Cruise Control (PCC) would be as revolutionary as ACC was. I'm still surprised when I meet people who say they NEVER use it, often saying they don't trust the electronics.

My missus is one of those people, unless she forgets my car has ACC, she just does not want to use it. As i unsderstand, it's not because of trust, it's because she does not like car deciding to brake for her.

Today i had to run some trailer errands and had to use her MK2 Superb because it's the only one with tow hook. I almost rear ended one car because i was so accustomed with ACC keeping the speed and distance in check.

At some point i just had to stop using the cruise, because a friggin lot of people are just unable to keep steady pace, in fairly new cars, more often than not chatting away on their phones without using handsfree.

New wheels landed today. Superb Iv Se Tech estate. Replaces my superb sport line - glad to be rid the ride and wheels where awful on the roads up here.

I’ve enable the PCC on my SE tech haven’t had a run but was just a tick option in the setup.

Picked up my new iV SEL yesterday, so far so good and managed to get a charge in as well!  Couple of things I'm trying to figure out with the satnav, entering post codes for destinations and I specced the virtual dash but can't get the map to show on the dash, other than directions. Its the Amundsen system and I've tried this with something other than Nav showing on the main screen as well. If anyone has any ideas, would be great.

If it’s anything like the Tiguan, it’s controlled through the steering wheel controls, right hand controls if I remember correctly, go left to right on the menu, should come up with navigation, then press ok.
Press ok again to zoom in and make the dials smaller.

Thanks Swede90 for the suggestion, unfortunately didn't work. I'll get in touch with the dealer

When closing the windows and sunroof with the key fob, the sunroof (angled part) stays open. Is this a fault?

also the drivers door sill is badly worn so I’ve ordered a set from Superskoda. What should I use to remove the old ones?

I did try the search function but I couldn’t find anything.

Thanks in advance 👍

I am not so familiar with the Amundsen, assuming it’s a touch screen if you tap the search button to the right of the map do any of the options show up? If not you might be better of starting a new thread / topic and ask for help on the forum.

Just put a deposit down on a 2017 Sportline TDI 190 DSG 4x4, will post pics when it arrives. I was discussing possible options in this thread. Initially I had ruled out a Sportline but I found a car with all the right factory fitted extras for me and fell for it. I've been driving a skoda for countless years but never one that I really, really like. Would really like to get your advice on whatever you think I need to know. For a start, I've never driven a DSG. What do I need to know about the tech in the car? Does anything take a bit of getting used to? Is anything hard to find/access in menu's, etc?

Recently got a 2017 Superb III for my job as a private hire driver, love the car it is so roomy. Despite the current issues (see my first ever post) I cannot understand why it took me so long to switch.

Not tried ACC yet as all work is local...

DSG works mostly like a torque converter (traditional) auto.

However it uses clutches so it's not advisable to crawl with pedal on the brakes or try to hold the car with throttle on an incline (I think the car prevents it anyway). Doing so will slip the clutch and might result in more wear. It's also a bit slow to react in certain situations but no big deal 9nce you know.

In return, you get really quick shifts, a direct driving feel like a manual.

Thanks for that, very useful. When you say crawl with pedal on the brakes do you mean light throttle and brakes simultaneously?

I should have actually said I’ve never driven an auto, never mind DSG!

That (I know some people do it!) Or just the regular crawl with foot slightly on the brake to modulate crawling speed (this is common in automatic driving)

Ok, so use one at a time is the recommendation?
