Hi guys looking for a bit of advice from some people with experience, so I get creaking and knocking when going over bumps and a slipping noise when turning while reversing so did a check of all four corners and have these photos of the results..... The only test I did on the bushes was a visual inspection, would this be sufficient or do I need a crowbar? Bit of additional info, when I bounce the suspension on the back it creaks would this be the springs, the look fine from what I can see?!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh dear, you really need a crowbar, please don't bother posting a picture of one, I already know what a crowbar looks like. Sad CV boot btw.

Those damper covers can rattle around when the bump stops break allowing them to drop like that. You can buy new bump stops to fit to the covers.

Do you know if the car has had any history of replacement parts in the suspension? Most Fabia's are over 10years old now so it might be worth while looking at new parts all the way around. Mine was making creaking and knocking noises so changed console bushes first and made no difference, then i changed my Jom coilovers for AP coilovers and it was better for a little bit but then i went and changed everything, full poly bushes, drop links, track rod ends, top mounts etc and it all went away and made it better to drive as well.

To be honest it could cost a small fortune to do that all, I've priced up what a good lowering suspension setup would be and that's approx £300, polly bushes about £150 all round? I would love to do it but at the moment can't afford that! You've put etc but I can't think of anything else which may need changing, is there more?

all new bushes and suspension bits (not struts or springs) came in about 170 for me, plus labour

My coilovers were second hand, cant remember what i spent in the end sorting it all out. Yeah put etc incase id missed anything! It is a good chunk of money but you could be chasing the noise until youve changed every part and the labour is still same amount if you fitted standard rubber bushes or poly bushes, so i went with poly as it made more sense.

Could just live with it for moment and buy the parts bit by bit which is what i did.

Defo the top rear bump stops are shot & the CV joints on the drive shafts, those are the causes of the noises I recon, both items need changing anyway.

I have some shocks and springs in good condition just come off my 05 plate fabia vrs they've done 75,000 and I had no issues with them, just wanted to lower mine so got full set of lowering springs n shocks. You can take em for £50

It's a cause of one of the noises, & could be an MOT fail...............

No, it's not necessary, unless you're constantly driving around fully laden on bumpy roads then the rear suspension won't bottom out anyway.

 

Get that CV done and go from there.

Not if you don't mind the covers rattling around on the dampers.
