Ste's Monday Mop - Angelwax QED Quick Detailer

Featured Replies

Thanks Ste. Appreciate the kind comments mate.

Absolutely, they both excel at different tasks. As a QD, QED is really good; as a QSealant, BSD is really good.

One thing that has surprised me, QED performs better on glass than BSD! Don't know why, but it hammers BSD on this front. Quite surprising, I'd like to know the science behind that!

  • Hey Guys,   So I finished my QED/BSD comparison today. I gave the Focus a PW rinse and you can see, on the driver side that the BSD was applied to, that it was beading better than the side with QED

Interesting observation, as I do use BSD on the glass normally - excluding windscreen.

Alas - I cant really test this now - I just re-did all my glass with Gtechniq G5 yesterday! Doh!

Although - I could do a quick check on SWMBO's car - but was hoping to add G5 to this soon in readiness for winter.... :rain:  :rain:  :rain:

I popped it on the windscreen of my Superb for a butchers at how it performed and it did really well for a QD. Definitely worth a look at buddy.

I wouldn't put any QD on glass.

Glass should be cleaned and protected with products for glass IMO

No need to use your specific window products for the side windows when you have a QD like QED. It's really good Chris and so fast to apply compared. You shouldn't discount it.

Seeing as I've secured a quantity of Purity-X; was thinking I might do a mix with QED.

Would be interesting to achieve the slickness of AW QED with the sealant aspects of Purity-X.

Watch this space Neil...  ;)

Liking the sound of this Ste. Keep us posted buddy!

It would be interesting to see how it mixes with Clarity QD too, as I find that more of a show QD. So show QD looks with added durability and beading would be a bit of a bonus.

Hi Neil - now that is a really good idea.

Definitely one to try with AP Clarity QD!!!!

Thanks for your input - always appreciated.

No worries Ste. Thanks for sharing this, buddy.

Your experiments have got me thinking. Purity X is out of stock, but a slightly more cost effective way for me would be to try Car Chem Hydrocoat using the same method. It's £15 for 250ml on ebay, delivered. Tempting!

I was thinking about this earlier at work. Got a bottle of hydro coat sitting on my shelf.

Might give it a whirl!

If you do, please report back if you get the chance buddy.

Looks like I'll get to give it a go on Saturday mate. Not sure what QD I'll mix it with yet. I ended up mixing together the last of my Adams, FK and the sample of AP that Ste sent me and that works a treat. Might add some in there.

Sounds good chaps - looking forward to your results on the suggested concoctions!!!

Didn't get chance to try this at the weekend mate. Hopefully will do this weekend though.

Did you manage to mix Purity-X with the QED at all Ste? Interested in the results on this one as I rate QED highly!

Hey Karl - welcome back buddy!

Not tried the AW QED mix as yet - so far I've only been able to test the Mist+Purity-X on both our cars.

I'll try and get a mix made up for this weekend and try it out in due course - still to plan the cars for this weekend.

I'll top up that bottle you left - with 100ml and add 5ml Purity-X; if you want to take that away and test it - feel free.

Sounds like a plan! After looking at Neils detailed review against BSD, it'll be interesting to see what Purity adds on durability etc!

Prepared your QED earlier Karl. ;)

So you have 200ml QED with 10ml Purity-X added.

The Mist-X sprayer works really well and the QED type is the same thankfully.

Great stuff Ste. Much appreciated. Look forward to testing that sometime next week!

Ok Karl - you now have 200ml QED with 10ml Purity-X to test.

Hopefully your dodgy shoulder is on the mend soon and you get testing some products.

Thanks for bringing over some detailing goodies in exchange - much appreciated!

Thanks for the QED & the beer! Good to have a chat last night.

Once I'm doped up pain killers I should be alright! Got some lighting for the garage so it's looking pretty sweet now.

Hopefully get CORA tested tonight and will add the QED over with different photos to see if there's any difference!

More than welcome mate! Hope you enjoy using them.

Nice one - let me know how you get on with the detailing light sources.

Something I'm evaluating for the garage updates this winter.

In fact - i'll update the thread I have running - found an option in Costco.

Will keep you updated. Tried it last night on my dad's work van in the garage and it shows absolutely everything! Will have to get to grips with that some point soon!

Excellent mix of products! Smear free & glides across the paint effortlessly! Cheers for the sample Mate.

Few photos for you!

The car looks great Karl

Have you tried AB Project 32?

It leaves a great finish and has the properties you describe here
