Focus RS details and pricing revealed.

I get that, but that applies even more so to the Focus, so how is the Golf more 'stealthy'?

Externally both cars have different paint, bumpers, spoilers, tailpipes and wheels from their entry level versions.

Golf R is about as stealthy as an F22.

A white or red or grey Golf R is not a Special colour, just a car

Anyway they are all just that a car, a hot hatch, not a Mega Hatch or a Super Car, but would be super to own. Good on a cold snow day. Just fit appropriate tyres.

Anyone after a nice Metallic Blue AWD for snowy days might want to look at the one on sale here for 'Much Cheapness'.

A lovely Impreza P1 3.3 H6 Conversion.

The Focus RS is definitely a no go for me. I can't sit in the passenger seat and have anyone behind me. Struggle to get me knees under the dash, not good when you have two young kids.

Just seen a review from Top Gear, here:

They seem to like it.

If you want to go on and on about the Golf R could you kindly pee off to the Golf R thread which is the best place to put it.  Thank you kindly. :)

Would be nice to keep this up to date with info, details, pricing and reiviews about the Ford Focus RS rather than turn it into the kind of drivel the Golf R thread tends to develop into.

Unless people aren't interested.  Then Keith can keep telling himself the Golf R is better than everything on here and I'll go and talk about the RS on the Ford forums.

There was an embargo on the motoring press releasing their reviews until 4pm today.

So here we go...

Autocar:
http://www.autocar.c...focus-rs-review

Fast, usable, temptingly priced and huge fun to drive, the new Focus RS isn’t just the affordable driver’s car of the moment, it’s also probably the best

Auto Express:
http://www.autoexpre...86/rs-hatchback

The Ford Focus RS continues the Ford tradition for delivering fast, fun and practical high performance machines at a bargain price. Electrifying acceleration and agile handling are the real highlights, while the turbocharged engine delivers a suitably sporty soundtrack.

Evo:
http://www.evo.co.uk...-hot-hatch-ever

Verdict: Innovative four-wheel-drive and clever chassis make Focus RS most engaging of current mega-hatches

Car Magazine:
http://www.carmagazi...rs-2016-review/

It makes the Type R seem silly, the Golf R seem staid and everything that outguns it seem eye-wateringly expensive.

Top Gear Magazine

http://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/ford/focus-st/23-rs/first-drive

After just a few hours playing with the RS’ hilariously approachable limits and using all of its performance more often than you’d think, those problems just fade to black. You’re left astonished by the way it ticks the same boxes as its competitors, then offers another dimension entirely. It’s a game-changer, this car. Really, it’s that good.

Looks like Ford have done a cracking job on the RS, just like it did on the Fiesta ST.

Ford could now have two of the best hot hatches on sale.

Not smitten with the looks, the previous gen was like wow , this neither looks stealthy nor wow, but I do think the base car has something to do with that, that Type R in the link above though, looks gorgeous in that red, or is that just my midlife crisis talking!  :notme:

Honda do stealth so well, a natural blending into the scenery and yet so bland! lol

Followed by Ford in a close 2nd place. Looks like an every day Focus.

If that looks like an every day Focus you'd better go to specsavers.

Or take the Rose tinted R goggles off. :)

Nothing like being negative about the competition, especially when it might have just knocked a certain car off of it's perch.

Just like the Fiesta the RS isn't a looker.

Just like the ST it's about the driving experience.

Ford are not going to build a great looking car being forced to use the standard shell due to saving the development budget for the driving experience and four wheel drive system.

It's going to be a bit gawky and it's going to be a bit plastic inside.

But if it's an awesome driving machine a lot of fans out there won't mind.

Which will hopefully lead to a lot of fun behind the steering wheel and a great residual value.  Which might just make it a decent ownership prospect. :)

There is probably as much anticipation on the RS as there is on the M2, the only difference is you will be able to get your hands on an RS and it costs sensible money. Do you think that the downside might be they will be hugely popular with thieves. As a woman who lives alone I'd be a little afraid that I might get my house broken into and the keys stolen, something the slightly more left field M2 wouldn't attract as much. Well at least not if the thieves value a fast getaway in winter, or heavy rain :D

Has anyone seen if Sutcliffe or Harris has 'ragged' one on video yet?

Yep, it's the one thing that put me off. Too shout visually with steal me scribbled all over it. Hell of a laugh yo drive though I suspect.

I've just spent the last fortnight working with a guy who has owned lots of very quick cars. Exiges, TT RS and several RS Escorts and Sierra Cosworths. he had the fast Fords stolen several times, but no other cars had attracted the same attention. I can only guess that is' the universal appeal of the Fast Ford. When I was younger it wouldn't have worried me as much (I lusted after MkII Escorts RS 1800/2000s in my youth), but I am a bit more of a wimp these days :( Who doesn't love a fast Ford though :)

I would have thought those who have been involved in Ford Motorsport must be  very frustrated over the last two decades.  People like Malcolm Wilson and Mikka Hirvonen must be very frustrated with the relative lack of trophies and championships over these last couple of decades playing second fiddle to Citroen and now VW for so long.  I am sure they have made a packet of money during their time but only two WRC championships in two decades when, considering the investment, is a pretty poor return,  I am sure Hirvonen and Wilson have made very goo livings out of it but must ultimately feel the brand has under-performed and especially compared to the previous two decades with the RS Escorts etc.   Love to have a new (5 litre) RHD Mustang, like my Ford power Jag but the RS Focus always strikes me as an also ran compared to Subaru, Citroen/Peugeot  and now VW pedigrees.   Focus RS a good value to start with and if you know anybody linked with Ford and can tap in to the legendary Ford discount scheme and get another £5K off the price an absolute bargain for what it is technically

It also doesn't help that Ford have made them rather easy to steal.

The Focus and Fiesta STs often seem to go missing, just by popping a window and plugging into the diagnostic port.

Two minutes and done.

So no need to go looking for the keys...

I think that's why you see so many around with Diskloks.

That also used to be part of the day... disklocks etc. to stop people stealing your Ford. The RS marque didn't used to be so bad, on insurance, until people found how easy they were to steal and used them in robberies etc. I think you'll find more than one video of a Cosworth, or ilk, being chased by Police in Police, Camera, Action footage.

Yes, shame Ford haven't done as well with security as the motoring press think they have done with the Fun Factor.

Most definitely. I remember a RS dealership in Edmonton, if I remember correctly, getting broken into and all the cars being used as stock cars.... I bet that was one hell of an insurance claim!

My colleague had one of his Sierra Cossies stolen even though it had extra security added to it (from an Earls Court Motor Show exhibitor). When he queried the private firm and their unbreakable immobiliser they said "tough" :( My brother had his original version XR2 stolen 9 times. The last time the thieves managed to crash it through a hedge into a stationary and also occupied Police car :D I have my old Discloc on my M-lite (bought it for my Imprezas, so its earned it's purchase price)
