Couldn't care less :D

Collected my new front grille badge, ordered my wheel centre caps and front splitter, and ascertained through trial and (much) error that my local (Australian) Skoda parts staff are effectively useless...

Fitted these today. Impressed with quality and fit. Better than Climair jobbies I've had on previous cars

Sorry - no idea why its posting rotated...given up on trying to change it  :swear:  :p

Top man Wardy - thank you

Team Heko I assume?

They look good - even sideways :)

Yip. Heko via Superskoda......

Technically this was yesterday, but got my rear window tint replaced (it was trashed to the point that it was illegal), and dropped the car off to get the wheels refurbished and painted gloss black.

Also ordered my front splitter and new wheel centre caps (current ones are also pretty trashed), and organized a Bluetooth kit.

Next on the list once I have the car back on the weekend will be some minor paint repair where the bootlid had been rubbing on the rear bar (rear bumper was misaligned when I got the car, and had been for a fair while), and some vinyl wrapping for the front grille, bonnet, roof and spoiler blade.

I'm also considering some lowered springs and a flash tune: Powerchip claim that their tune takes the output from 147kw/280nm to 192kw/410nm...

Also, a basic audio upgrade will be in the cards for the mid-term...

Coming from somewhat experience I would scrap the idea of getting lowering springs and go straight for coilovers, the H&R springs I had were very bouncy and going to coilovers has made the ride more firm, but handles the bumps better due to not being bouncy af like H&R springs + having only done a rough 6000 miles my rear passenger shock was well and truly on the way out and practically blown, but it's up to you at the end of the day :)

Took it to the dealer to see if the lock nut key had arrived, not yet, but they got the masted set out to see which one it was because they hadn't even ordered it yet :wall: and took the lock nuts out and replaced them with the lock nuts I already have so now I can at least take the wheels off while I'm waiting for the other lock nut key to come (don't want the old ones to be permanent replacements due to them being partly rounded off). I also started to paint the new front grille, needs patients but it is coming together now. Well worth the £20 to buy the grille, it'a a lot easier to do it off the car. So tomorrows jobs are fit the new grille and swap wheels over to the old ones which I'll finish off at Snetterton.

Feel like I cheated on it today, by looking at a Greeline Superb dreaming, lol

Duly noted, cheers!

I'm really trying not to overcapitalise too much as I bought this car as a daily driver ( I travel close to 200km/day on the round trip to work), and the bulk of the travel is on the highways. If there are any Australian members reading this in the Gold Coast/Brisbane/Ipswich areas with either lowered springs or coilovers, I'd really appreciate being able to sample the ride...

I have a big hp Nissan Stagea for weekend fun on coilovers, and the ride isn't exactly what you'd class as comfortable for 100km trip after a 12-15 hr shift, so comfort is a priority: I just think with the splitter etc the car is begging to be a bit lower. I haven't researched the standard spring rates yet, but if there's a coilover kit that doesn't make the ride too harsh, I'm interested.

The third option is to have the factory springs reset around 30mm lower, but I'm of the opinion that the factory shocks won't be too happy with that, plus the risk of bottoming out on our crappy roads isn't making this an attractive proposition.

Thinking about it now I've got it on "paper", I'm really trying to have my cake and eat it too, but I really need to try both setups (lower springs/coilovers) to evaluate the best option.

I'm a big advocate of doing it once, and doing it right...

Since I'm picking up my car on the weekend with freshly refurbed wheels, I thought I'd ask if anyone has any experience with the eBay wheel nut covers?

The factory wheel nuts are going to let the look down a little, and the wheels are going to be gloss black: I was thinking I'd get a set of black covers, but if they fade easily in the sun (no undercover parking at work), then I'll invest in a new anodized set...

Advice appreciated!

I did this:

There were a couple of little fasteners I had to cut round on the old grill to get the top part off then I had to cut of a couple of clips and the rest of them were a pain to get to but once I got the grill off it was easy as. Now I have to get a couple of replacement fastener parts that aren't really needed but I'd rather get them than have 2 little holes there all the time. It would just look better when you open the bonnet.

But despite the faff I still say it is a lot easier to do it that way then trying to paint the grill while it's on the car as the paint would have run off the grill and there would have been a big mess.

And it looks a lot better than the other one did with the sticker stripes!

Took it into the dealers. I think I should move in. The bonnet looks to be about a quarter of an inch too far forwards. It's actually touching both headlights! I noticed this when I washed it this afternoon. Salesman went round it with a pen and said the top looks normal and there actually was a slight gap and it was within tolerances. I hadn't seen it was actually touching before I took it to VASStech for a second opinion and the guy there saw it had rubbed through the paint on both sides! So when I go back for the lock nut key which still hasn't arrived then I will bring this up again, and if they get all aresy it will be going to VASStech to get the bonnet brought back a bit. If it's already as far up as it will go on the holes then the holes will have to be extended to allow it because you can't have it rubbing the lights all the time. Then I may end up putting in a complaint to SUK about everything so far. But you can tell the bonnet is in the wrong place because A. It is touching the lights. B. it is hanging over the bumper parts and C. the badge looks too far forwards when you look from the side. I'm surprised it's taken me this long to notice it to be fair, but that's the advantage of washing it by hand and not taking it to a car-wash.

I was going to paint the drums and calipers today but instead I ended up wasting time going round garages.

Has it had a front end smash by any chance? You ran an HPI check on it, didn't you?

HPI check comes clear on everything apart from it was run on private plates. As the rest of the front of the car looks fine I just think it was built wonky and wants the bolts loosening, the bonnet sliding back and tightening back up, if they have any adjustment left in them. My last car had a leaky drivers door that needed adjusting in a bit, that was no problem, straight in and out but this is proving to be a farce. I shall try harder next time.

Might have just had an unlucky build car, I know with mine that I didn't notice until early on this year my front driver side panel was out of alignment, like really badly out of alignment, fortunately for me I just needed to push it in a little

Good stuff then. I just have a rather large distrust of car dealers... :D

I only buy from them, I won't get it serviced there. Before they were taken over by BSM they sold my dads car to him without servicing it as they apparently had been for years, and it needed something doing with the handbrake when VASStech took it in, had to force them to take it in and look at it. I'm still trying to get the money back off the dealer for it. Also when I took mine in the other day and we swapped the lock nuts over while I was taking the covers off the bolts one of them wasn't even finger tight, I took it out before he got back out of the workshop. I know I can't blame the Darlo branch for that as they didn't have the key but the branch that serviced the car where it was before weren't doing something right. I'll get it serviced at VASTech after it gets back from Snetterton then I know it's right. At least they do stuff that I tell them to and tell you when there's something genuinely wrong. Unless I give them a smashed up car of course but that was a bit extreme. And VASSTech are cheaper. I don't know how much a top grill is from a dealer but I bet it's a bit more than £20.

Get some pics up Mike

Nexen have certainly come on well I think.

Picked the car up with its newly painted gloss black rims: massive visual improvement on the yellow body!

It has, however, highlighted the need for lowering the car, so I'll start looking into that.

It turns out that my thoughts regarding wheel but covers (the old wheel nuts are a bit shabby) were irrelevant: the workshop I used to paint the rims decided that they were of the same mind, and supplied me a set of black nut covers for free...

Next on the list is fit a Bluetooth kit, get the car lowered a little, and apply some vinyl wrap...

Was going to give it a good clean and fit a rs exhaust tip but its piddling down :(

Took a lot of pictures of the bonnet and surrounding area which i'll post up somewhere on here later, and raised the front of the bonnet with the adjusters so it isn't hitting the lights.
