What did you do to your Skoda today pt2

Featured Replies

Fitted my new front Skoda grille badge. The guides in these forums were spot on: taped around the old badge to protect the chrome, heated it up with a hairdryer, and levered it off with a pair of flat head screwdrivers. Removed old adhesive with razor blade and degreaser, cleaned and dried, then on with the new badge!

Also ordered some touch up paint for the little nicks and scratches that 8 years of motoring results in...

Loving the gloss black rims on yellow body: can't wait for the front splitter to arrive, and vinyl to be applied to various panels!

Currently trying to set the sensitivity of the front parking sensors...

...which apparently you can't do, as the button I was playing with was for tyre pressure monitoring!

At times it pays to check the manual BEFORE assuming you know what you're doing!

Took off the TD Pro Race and fitted the OEM wheels.

Not a sausage. Got my coat out of the boot and then ignored it.

Opened the bonnet, closed the bonnet, opened the bonnet, closed the bonnet, opened the bonnet, closed the bonnet, opened the bonnet, closed the bonnet, and took some photos when I did all of those things. Then I opened the bonnet and closed it and took some more photos.

I bet the evenings just fly past in your house, eh? :D

Oh yeah. Evenings of pure joy! Wanna come over some time and we can open and close bonnets together?

On second thoughts, best not. I'll just keep trying to make SUK and the dealership come to the party instead.

I spend my evenings out in the shed playing with sat navs. Beats bonnet opening/closing all the time. :p

Do you think we could combine the two recreational activities?

Unfortunately I think they're too far removed from each other...

Isn't this getting a little... off topic and.. creepy ;):D

Technically it was still late last night (barely), but ordered a set of H&R 50mm lowering springs.

My front splitter arrived yesterday, and I think my lower front grille is the package waiting for me at the post office. New wheel centre caps and touch up paint are on their way...

After a couple of errands in the a.m. I'll go get a 3rd quote for some vinyl wrapping. The wheels still need a few days for the paint to finish curing (they were already baked, but it pays to err on the side of caution before washing the car again), then it's a case of fitting all the parts, getting the wrap done, and "stage 1" is pretty much complete. Excited!

Spent 1 hour trying to fit a headlight main beam bulb on the left hand side.

Managed it eventually, not before raking skin off the backs of both hands  :envy:

Why did VAG decide such a simple job needed a blood sacrifice?

I'm wanting a set of these for my Monte estate. What material did you go for? Are they easy to fit? Did you need to take the wheels off?

I went for the 4 mm stuff, not the fancy expensive stuff. Fitting is relatively easy, and yes you do need to take the wheels off. Basically, wheel off, arch liner screws out, place bracket on and replace one of the liner screws, make a small hole in the liner with a tiny drill bit for a self tapping screw and put a screw in for the bracket and then use the other screws in the packet to hold the flap on. The flaps come with a fitting guide that is full of pictures so you really can't go wrong. Also, when it says to cut the push tabs, don't cut them too short. In fact I'm not sure you actually need to cut them at all.

If you get them just remember that there is a hatchback set and an estate set ;)

Took it to rustynuts to get the map update cd then drove it around while it updated.

And a bit more.

Ended up in Helmsley.

Then took the disk back, thanks rusty.

Put a new exhaust tip on my monte technically i did it monday but only seen the car in daylight today lol

Fitted the new-style wheel centres: much better than the shabby old ones, and the plain symbol on black background goes well with the black wheels.

Have re-assessed my ideas regarding vinyl wrapping: not going to do the roof and bonnet anymore: I'm coming to terms with the "yelowness" of the car, and starting to like it, so front grille, side mirrors and probably centre balde of the spoiler will be the only parts that cop vinyl.

Researching suspension tweaks, and am all but decided that I'll get a RARB and Audi TT console bushes to fit at the same time as the lowered springs.

Tempted to fit the front splitter on my next day off, but have concerns that at standard ride height, it will look ridiculous...

Updated the maps on the Columbus in the Superb.

Found the source of my oil leak - the rocker cover. But also found out ECP list the wrong gasket for my car, so I had to refit the old one and need to swap the wrong one for the right one tomorrow.

Hoovered mine just now :)

As well as my earlier post I've had a productive day and also replaced the aerial and base on the Mrs' vRS so the radio now works again..... And I managed a trip out to watch a steam train go past too inbetween. :)

Mine ain't a Skoda, but I fitted a DAB aerial and a DAB RNS510. Went for a drive out and about, and can now listen to Planet Rock in the car.
