Citigo & Up! 12/62 plate MOT results

Featured Replies

I recently drove a hybrid as a hire car from work, admittedly it was quick off the lights, but even after playing for a while and resetting the fuel computer then driving it sensibly I only achieved about 35mpg with a mix of town and m'way type journeys from the onboard computer.  As a hybrid it would have attracted the £0 tax,  with a mpg worse than a lot of cars, so in some respects I'm not surprised.

Where did you see the MOT was going to 4 years? I thought it was only at consultation stage.

Sshhh, dont remind them,

the UK Government would like to forget what George Osborne MP announced,

they would need to improve UK roads, and sort out the hopeless UK Main Dealerships shoddy Servicing and Maintenance and the likes.

Get a proper Vehicle Inspection regime going.

so kick the can into the long grass.  If opened the worms will get out.

For Scottk - it's all out there on Google: thisismoney.co.uk, being but one of the sites that have announced it. It all seems to be cut & dried now - with Chancellor O stating that "all the money recovered, will be ring-fenced for mending the (our totally lousy) roads". Funny, I always thought that THAT was what the RFL (& duty on fuel) was always all about - ever since it was found to be such a continual money-pot. Ah well, ANOTHER illusion shattered!

Chancellor O also went on record by saying that "it wasn't really fair" that all these low-emission cars were avoiding putting £sd into the Government's coffers. AGAIN, wasn't it the Government who were trying to get the population to reduce greenhouse gases, by forking out for low-emission cars - and sweetening the financial pill, by offering reduced RFL to get them to part with their hard-earned cash? Apparently turns out to be NOT such an attractive idea, when governmental income is reduced.

Sigh, YET ANOTHER illusion shattered!

If it is all cut and dry what year and month will Cars first registered in the UK need their first MOT after 4 years.

Is it cars First Registered in 2016, so first MOT in 2020.

Or do they intend the vehicles now on the roads say registered last year (2015) just going past the 3 years and due a MOT in 2019?

As far as I understand it, GoneOFFSKI, it (the increase in the  RFL & the 4 year MOT) applies to cars registered AFTER the Easter Budget in 2018.    So, I may trade in my Elegance next year (instead of 2018) & not comply with Osborne's devious scheme of screwing owners of low emission cars, into the ground beneath his feet - not to mention, saving myself the initial £120 RFL & the subsequent years of shelling out £140, to try to balance the un-balanceable.

Yet another example of the way in which these untermenschen regard motorists as nothing more than "milk cows" "buy low-emission cars & we'll reduce the RFL accordingly" - followed by Oh Shucks, RFL-free cars means we're missing out on a lot of shekels, so let's go back on our previous promises!!!

Sorry everyone, I got my dates wrong - have just re-checked, and it's EASTER 2017 when everything goes up.  If I'm going to avoid all of this, I'm going to have to move faster than I thought.
