Thats because it doesnt need 6 gears  - it's a PETROL!

Neither does the Furby - 5 speeds would be enough. The overdrive 6th is nice for motorway refinement tho. I suspect the Ford won't be pulling under 2500rpm in top at 80mph.

  • Ooooo..... so cheaper than a VRS Fabia? I bet that much of a saving would require the Fabia to do a lot of miles for the MPG to come into play. Bargain.

I'm on my third Skoda and will probably go for a fourth eventually - depends what replaces the Fabia vRS.

You can also get an Eiback kit as a factory option - no warranty issues etc.

AND (yet another edit to add this one) you can choose propper leather.

AND (yet another edit' date=' must think faster) you can have propper climate control

Rain sensing wipers

Factory "privacy glass"

Electrically folding mirrors[/quote']

Would have been a contender if the insurance was in group 9 or below :finger:

And yes Goochie, you have a point. It is a great little car, but I couldn't live with the cack interior (Little Tykes gear gaitor, silly split stereo etc). The image it has isn't desireable either imo.

But no doubting it has lots of perks over the Fabia - all at a bargain price. Really not to be sniffed at. :humble pie:

I've been looking around at a different car over the last couple of days. Why have I got a sensible car[/b'] when I'm young and single? I'm looking at Celica or Hyundai Coupe maybe. Or just go for another boring car like an IS200.

depends on what you do to it!

depends on what you do to it!

No mods allowed for me. Insurance goes through the roof.

I still would never buy ford........ I recieve my THIRD new style focus on thursday, in as many months, they are all build with sticky tape, yet to get one that doesn't break, or is put together properly! I would buy another Skoda, I really hope they produce a good replacement for the Fabia vRS :)

What would I like to see on a new Fabia:

Leather seats (Option)

Xenons as standard

Autochanger or mp3 player as standard

Climate Control

Better interior lighting

17" alloys

Lower spring set up

Thats all really

Having had a Megane, I'm not a fan of electrical gizmos. There is too much to go wrong.

Mind you, having seen the new Civic on 5th Gear last night !!!!!

Skoda, please build a Fabia vRS Combi, no heavier or bigger than the current models with a black fabric interior option and a no gimmicks approach. I'll take your hand off!

I have a 1.9 tdi combi. and I like the fact that it hasn't got too many gimmicks or pretensions. That's why it's a Skoda. It does what it's designed to do and that's why I bought it- better handling and a bit more punch is all that's required. I don't even mind the basic feel- ( maybe just lose some of the squeaks). I'd agree with the dial markings being a bit odd but how often do you actually admire the rest of your dashboard when you're driving anyway?

If you want lower mpg, heavy carpet tonnes of extra weight and expensive features, by a VW a SEAT or an AUDI. ;) ;) Personally, I like the fact that I'm driving a good honest car.

Thanks, I needed that!! I'm going for a lie down.....

Snailrox

I Like my vRS very much, but wish it would have:

A) Proper climate control, you get it on ibiza's, so why not on the Furby???

B) A Decent Handhold in the boot instead of that Cack fabric handle!

C) Leather Seats/Recaro's as an option

D) MP3/WMA Enabled Headunit

E) Decent Petrol powered variant such as an FSI Turbo or even just the 1.8T

F) 4X4 and a DSG option

G) 3 Door Please!

H) Damped holdy handles and a 3rd sunvisor

I) A quick clear front windscreen

J) A Bloody gas strut for the bonnet..........

K) Can't think of anything else:D

L) Oh Aye......Frickin' Cup Holders as Std!!!

Would buy another though!

Better interior lighting

Solved

dont get me wrong i do like ma fabia vRS just this was a step up from ma corsa and im gonna need the next step up.... and tbh the new octavia vrs just isnt quick enough (as the next step goes)....but im looking at getting a chimeara or rx7 so maybe when/if they do realese a diesel octavia vRS it could be my next "new"purchase as i will need a car with a big boot to buy stock for ma takeaway but things to improve on a current fabia vRS

(1) to all vw's: understated is good to a level but when u get an rs4 i would like people to know by looking not by hearing

(2)produce a car which is more interactive....lack of feel thorugh the wheel and pedals and the sensation of speed is kinda non existent.

(3)sat nav at a "real" price rather than i think it was 1700

(4)make a car thats proud of it's engine/ exhaust note

(5)tbh i would love to see a limited edition 3.2 V8 in the octavia ie 1000 of them and i certainly would purchase one.they could go all out an smack a wrc bodykit on it and just make it to be feared and tbh that would be worth a shoyt load come 25 years as i reckon they would be collectable.

(6) i would love to see a different seat fabric as an option in the fabia vRS (main gripe) would love to see alcantara or kangaroo hide as an option:thumbup:

After working in a Skoda dealer for a while I grew to love the car.

The way that Skooda UK`s customer service I thought was second to non that I had dealt with before.

I have done warranty claims for bunches of flowers for customers and fuel.

So when it came to me buying a car of my own second hand (family reasons) I got a Felicia diesel.

The first diesel I have ever owned.

I did 50k in it and was only let down on 2 occasions of which was silly niggly things.

I then bought myself the Fabia PD100 Comfort.

What a beaut!!!

I average 64mpg and it is a dream to drive I love it.

If I had the money and could afford the insurance it would be the Furby vRS without a doubt.

Yes I have a sqeeky dash , but I turn the music up til I can get a friend to look at it for me.

But I love it , it handles like a dream (on stilts ) not the best of colours , but not a worry in the world with it.

I would reccomend a Skoda to anyone.

But I am a big Skoda fan , what else would I drive?

VFR400 but I have not found the heater yet.

Sarah

I won't, not because I don't like my car, but because I fancy a change next time.

Yep I love my vrs fab. I opted for leather and the electric sunroof and think it takes some beating. Would like to see more colour options on this particular model in the future.

Yes i would.

Although why Skoda removed the following from the Elegance for the 2003 model is a msystery:

Rear electric windows

sunvisor strip on front windscreen

fag lighter

screwdriver kit

rubber mould below drivers tray

Only one remote key fob (Audi type)

so instead of increasing spec they reduced.

soz they added CD !

Would like to get the new Octavia vRS TD. Fingers crossed for a lottery win!!! :D

I will probably get another fabia

What i miss off my corsa is

The sunglasses container above the driver door

and

The steering wheel controls for the radio/cd player

i hope skoda start to fit the steering controls in new models

baecause its a right pain messing about with the radio

We bought a new Fabia 1.9Tdi Elegance in March 04.

Then we got a Nreg Felicia 1.3 lx in Sept. 04,

Swaped the Fabia in March 05 for a new Oct'y,

Last week we swaped the Felicia for a Fabia 2.0i Elegance.

1.8 20v turbo

6 speed

tougher front suspension - ARB, bushings...

proper cup holders

HID headlamps

bigger disk brakes

better lumbar support in front seats

better dash console intergation/connection

No change in size please - every other manufacturer makes the next generation continually larger until it ends up being the same size as the car one model up. Cars loose their identity like that.

Have been please with the Fabia VRS so far - 6months 12k miles and would probably buy another.

Definately wouldn't buy from a dealer again though. Not very impressed with the service and skoda customer service weren't any better - shame really as this was one of the main reasons i bought a skoda in the first place

I loved my Furby vRS so, yes, I'd come back to the Skoda owning fraternity :D

Next Time it'll probably be the Octy vRS TDi estate though...

2 Fabias, 1 Octavia & 2 Superbs.

Next will be a vRS Octavis TDi.

Can't fault them.

hello i plan to retire next year in romania and need a comfortable and reliable car to tour europe with my wife. can spend 20,000 euro and have looked at the octavia. I have a toyota avalon with 70,000 miles and my only maintainance has been brake shoes and oil changes; it drives like a dream---not ready for any rallys. I am 61 with a bad back any comments? thanks richard from virginia usa
