Tiny dead spider in interior drivers light

Easy to remove the circular assembly? :)

It'll be related to the one in your drivers side wing mirror

Yes. Use a trim removal tool (or flat blade of knife / screwdriver wrapped in masking tape to avoid scratching plastic). Place tool in the gap between overhead console and the rectangular pice of plastic that contains the two circular clear lenses and the submarine LEDs. As you insert the tool the rectangular cover will prise apart from the console - try tool along the 2 short sides (left and right) first, then you should be able to pull down. If the car is cold inside warm the plastic with a hair dryer first so that it is not brittle. Once lenses are off, blow to remove spider so you don't leave scratches / finger marks.

If struggling try searching for one of the inerior LED threads.

Cheers !

No idea mate, sounds like it's totally knackered, even if it isn't, you'll never get the parts.

Best bet would be a new spider, replacement procedure is detailed above.

Isn't a nice car meant to be a pussy magnet not a spider magnet :)

Weird! Mine also has a dead spider in drivers side interior light

This all looks suspiciously linked to VW's Web of deceit.................sorry, couldnt resist

I'm a bit p*ssed off. There was never any option to spec a tiny light dwelling spider on the configurator when I ordered my car. Bloody Skoda UK have a lot to answer for!!!

Ltd edition .......  king in the castle king in the castle I have a spider I have a spider....go do this go do this

Mine has one in the rear courtesy light.....the clusters lack of willingness to come apart worried me so Ive just left it.

Although I didn't spec it, I have a live spider somewhere near the rear window. As I got it for free, I'm pleased.

I have a nice spider hanging from my rear view mirror. Had to tempt him in with a dead fly.I got really peed off hearing about other folks' spiders.

His name's Jim. The spider, not the fly..

I got a spider too and I will remove when switching for led lights

Btw what's your production date?

I'm 24/2014

I had a huge spider (1½" span) sitting on my touch screen at one point. Made me jump when I went to change the track... Guess he didn't want me to. Think he must of come from some of the tree carcass I'd been moving.

So, what's the fly called?

Trim remover for phones just isn't cutting the mustard, it doesn't get purchase to open it up well enough. I think it will require watch makers screwdriver with tape over.

Try using something a bit thicker, to kind of wedge in, it takes a bit of push but when the two bits are far enough apart (couple of mm) to release the catch it sort of pops out. If you try to lever it you might mark one side or another. just wedge something in first then use something to hook it out if needed.

Used a plastic knife on mine to push in the gap and it seemed to just pop out.

You could always ask the spider to push from inside  :notme:

i have a large stragely colored spider that lives behind my MY16 scout dashboard they must send them from factory with free spider

It came out and spider too

I actually found trying to prise the light assembly from the plastics around wasn't the way, it was actually easier prising to let the whole black plastic surround unclip from the roof.

So the least resistance was it actually unclipping the whole black plastic surround including those round lights.

By the way those lights in there really are naff! I can see getting some LEDS would make it look at lot better, they are functional but a bit out of keeping with the rest of the car.

To be fair it could have been just resting....perhaps pining for the fjords.......

I wonder if anyone ever found a spider in their Beetle?
