Audience replace?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

Tomorrow i'll be happy owner of vRS Combi 2007, and it's a great looking car, but the outdated look of the sound system drives me mad.

The car has Audience Head Unit, Skoda Sound System (with amp), climate, and oem parking sensors front/rear.

After reading tons of forums (all are pretty old), i've understood that there is nothing i can do to replace this head unit (hu) for aftermarket and stay with climate/parking/amp on the hu screen.

But, after googling, i've found this pictures, with Pioneer SPH-DA120. Some studio installed it and on display it has all the options! How? Or this car does not have oem amp?

So, what are my options? I want to see parking sensors on screen, want bluetooth, navi, and all the pretty things of 2016. Go for Columbus?

If so, wil the newest versions of Columbus (LED?) work on 07 vRS Combi with amp?

Or may be there is some other solution?

Thanks!

Welcome to Briskoda  B)

As your Octavia is from 2007 it is the pre-facelft model.

Even if you fit the Bolero or the Columbus I understand that it is not possible to get the parking sensors or Climatronic displays on the headunit.

The reason for this is the older versions of the MkII Octavia have an older BCM that does not work with the later headunits such as the Bolero and Columbus.

The pictures and your link above does show the Pioneer unit fitted to an Octavia but looking at the heater controls it is fitted to a FL (facelift) model from 2009 which does support the Bolero and Columbus, this is why it will work on the Pioneer headunit too I'm guessing.

I assume it might be possible to update the BCM, I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along shortly...

Some aftermarket units will display the climatronic and parking sensor data on a pre-fl as well as on a facelift.

You could also fit a polar-fis box. That translate the signals on a pre-fl

The CECM (old version of the BCM) doesn't need to be updated, but the can gateway may need to on a 2007 model. If you do go down that route, I have a Bolero for sale at the moment, which would allow you to retain the 6 CD changer in the head plus give you SD card as well.

Hi Mike! Does Bolero work with amp for sound system? As I've read a few post (dated few years ago), that it can't start the amp. If nowadays there is a solution for this - what is it?

Thanks for offer, but I'm in Russia, so I postal charges will be not so great to buy from overseas..

Hi! Can you tell a little more about this units or polar box? What is it? :)

It also means you don't have to upgrade your can gateway.

It has many other nifty features too

Thanks! But, as I've understood, that polar will only translate info to maxidot, not to head unit. Or am I wrong?

If you don't have maxidot, it's not worth it really, but it would still show the climatronic and parking info on a Columbus

So how much do these run at, I bet they're not cheap?! Other than seemingly retrieving the display stuff on a pre-fl bolero, what else does this box of tricks do?

Yes, my Octy have Maxidot (white display).

So, if i buy Polar, then i can only install Columbus (LED? K?) and everything will work ok? What about other Head Units, like Pioneer?

If so, this is great news :)

I've checked the price for Polar, thats almost like for Columbus! :(
