Park Pilot: time delay for disengagement?

Featured Replies

I recently changed from an MY14 1.6 tdi to an MY16 vrs tdi. On the old car, the park pilot disengaged as soon as I got out of reverse gear, but on the new one, there is a delay of 8 seconds or so before the park pilot screen disappears and the normal display screen resumes. The stereo remains muted until the park pilot screen disappears. Can any MY16 owners tell me if this is the norm?

Yes mine does this, maybe not quite that long.

I think it waits until you are over 10mph or so.

Speed is the key. It stays on until you reach a certain speed.

How much the radiovolume is lowered can be adjusted via the infotainment.

Normal, part of the simply stupid/clever package, depending on your outlook of modern cars.

My 63 plate TSI disengages straightaway, as soon as you come out of reverse, my screen goes straight back to what ever it was on before selecting reverse

Why would you have to do 10mph if you've just reversed into a parking space?

The parkingsensors wont turn off untill you reach that speed. It makes sense if you have the front and side sensors aswell.

I only have reversing sensors on mine which turn off as soon as I select neutral. Even if I rolled back slightly (as I did on one occasion, luckily there were only bushes behind me!) they'd give no warning. I would have assumed fronts would have done the same in neutral, no?

I don't know. I have a Dsg, so they turn off either by going faster than 10mph or putting it in park. Havent tried what happens in neutral.
