Tried to race me as I was overtaking uphill. Dropped down into 4th and watched him recede into the rear view mirror.

Deliberately slowed down at the top allowing him to come screaming up behind. 3 seconds of tailgating was followed by a repeat performance, this time on the twisties where I let the Eibach/Koni/Yokohama Asymmetrics do the talkin'.........

you say your fabia is 180bhp and 310lbft, the 330td is 227bhp and 369lbft. the weight difference isn't that much really with the fabia weighing 1315Kg and the BMW 1550Kg

that gives you fabia 136bhp/ton and 235lbft/ton, the BMW has 146bhp/ton and 238lbft/ton

the BMW figures are official figures so more accurate than yours which if we are honest are probably slightly out.

now i'm not saying you didn't overtake him but don't believe your car is faster than a 330D as i think that the same driver would be able to drive the BMW faster, especially off the line.

dont forget the beemer will have v long gearing.. as itll hit the 155 limiter with room to spare..

it is possible to trounce a 330d... it aint easy... especially if the bm driver knows that theres no point in revving the knackers off it..

put yours up aginst the scoob then col, from experience remapped fabia vRS's couldn't get away from me be it on the move or off the line. i really want someone to put a fabia against a new WRX just wipe the smile off their faces

Heh. I fought victoriously, and out-shone a Mk4 Golf 1.6 recently. And it was wearing 18" wheels - ripe for earth shattering acceleration.

Power to weight and tyre compound... are all that matters... on paper... driver intent and skill are quite another..

My octy was about 250hp per ton and ran on very sticky 245/35 P Zero C's on road or slicks on track.

I used to muller pretty much everything however that doesnt mean it was invincible. It did lose to 996 turbo in a straight line and my tuscan could murder it on a sweeping A road... then again it beat a 996 GT3 on cup tyres twice in a straight fight round anglesey - driven by an experience track hand who was a porsche dealer.

But lets be clear you will only get a fair comparison if both drivers are trying / skilled.

im just saying it as it is, i dont relly know if hye was trying hard or not, or maybe its just that i passed him off the roundabout.

thats all i'm getting at kris, similar figures so the bmw should be slightly quicker but if you try harder than him and start first then you should be ableto squeeze in front
