wet carpet

Featured Replies

Sounds like it may be filling up between the inner and outer wings. I believe there may be a service bulletin about poor sealant and/or welds around that area for certain Octavias resulting in water ingress.

Probably worth taking the wheel arch liner off and cleaning the muck out plus checking underneath the whole area to ensure that any possible drain holes are clear before considering anything more drastic. If it is coming off the windscreen also check the scuttle drains are all clear, not stuffed with leaves etc.

Is the drain hole a tiny small hole underneath about 10 Mil wide just put a screw driver in it and water started dripping out of it...

So close but so far, having pulled the carpets up,taken the passenger seat out and taken the side trim of and located the leak and dried everything out, I still don't know why it was leaking, once dried out,I sat in the car with hose pipe running on winderscreen waiting for any leaks, the hole after a good drenching the hole would only have a tiny bit more water sitting in it,over time I think it's building up,and then leaking into the car.dont know what to do next,if I put carpet back and seat everything's going to get wet again when it rains.

Similar to the problem I had with my boot. The water was building up between 'skins' and then overflowing into the spare wheel well. Tuned out the problem was the boot seal but how the water got into the void where it was collecting is still a mystery to me.

My boot was leaking as well water collecting in boot, turned out to be the boot seal.. Don't think skodas are put together properly mys 2012 blackline.

Hi fellas would it be a bad idea to put builders foam in these holes to stop the water coming into cabin.cheers John any ideas would be great.

sadly it will just fill up till it comes in elsewhere. you need to find the drainhole(s) and make sure theyre clear.

Hi mate I've checked every where, everywhere clean as a whistle drainage holes and behind mudguard cover.

I've gave in, thanks for all the advise but it's booked into the dealer Tuesday.

Thanks John.

Please let us know how they get on. In the end I left my leak to them to solve and they managed to sort it. Hopefully they can sort your leak too.

I had it booked into the dealer but changed my mind when I found out it was 72 pound an hour.

I ended up sticking a screw in the hole and wiggling it about,I could feel foam like stuff so I pushed a screw driver through it and doesn't hold any water know,it's bone dry..

My seat leon had this problem, the doors retained some water, as I used the drivers door it allowed the trickle to run out and mostly go outside but the other doors would leak water into the car and over time this soaked in to the carpet and caused massive condensation inside. I found that by opening every door after it had rained prevented most of water getting in. I think there were threads on making the holes bigger or something where readily available I just never wanted to do that to my car.

0fead6eae8d2bf0cfd10fbe496c4c09d.jpg I have water that comes in around the front passenger door. Not sure where it starts to get in, but when I open the door there is a lot along the door seal which seems to have overflowed into the cabin. Also when I open the door it runs off the bottom of the door. Any ideas?

I would have a look at the rubber bellows where the wires run to the passenger door

In the picture posted earlier the wiring that can be seen, some runs to that coupling point.

worth checking for water damage to the wiring too

Rubber bellows are fine as I have had them off for cleaning prior to them being refitted - the water getting between the glass / outer window seal (which Iwould expect as there are drain hole in teh bottom of the doors, collecting on the bottom of the outer window seal - then dropping and falling onto the speaker and collecting in the speaker housing as per the attached pictures on the other thread postings.

Hi, I have the same issue ie. wet carpet on left side both at front and rear seats. Today I resealed the polen filter house lower edgesbut still have some water  coming in at the most left forward corner of the cabin, under the gloves holder.

Just realized later a round hole outboard the pollen filter house on the bottom of the through - made by Skoda/VW - that is open to cabin where the leakage noticed.

(the opening in the side wall is open leading to the front wheel for drainage).

Any idea what is the purpose of this nice round hole in the through before the windscreen, next to the pollen filter house ?

I plan to close it with a rubber plug or similar, but still no idea what is the purpose of it ? Why it is open ? Not found any plug or cover around.

Thanks.

Please find attached the photos of the mentioned hole, before and after plugged.
